It's not made as "on the intened trend wagon". That Track came out in 1996. I mean, if James' new album comes out with some auto-tune shit like you hear on popular urban commercial radio; then we can start slinging dumptrucks of cow shit into jet engines.

This a million billion times!!!!! AAAGGGGHHH!!!! Whoever thought up that idea needs to be trussed up, covered in honey, have all orifices stuffed with shit, have fire ants and dung beetles chucked all over them, before being boiled alive in acid, flayed and skinned, have their bones mashed up, burnt to a cinder, packed in a radioactive jar then shot off into a blackhole.

Especially why the fuck would anyone walk around ON THEIR OWN with crappy "music" blaring out of their shitty phone speakers???? At least if they were with people you could possibly excuse them teeniest tiniest eeeeety bitty bit coz they're listening with mates. But on their own fucking selves????

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if he did it just to do it, and ended up doing it a thousand times better, leading to everyone trying to copy his way.

sorry about that, ive gotten into many arguments.. usually with people in trackies, hoods and wearing a shit pair of air max or reebok classics, that involve niche and teh fact tis nota genre of music
Look, niche is to people as dmz is to people, it's that simple, it's not jus music it's a sound, a movement... and since niche began the music has picked up and become alot more popular, if it wasn't for niche then the genre wouldn't be as big as it is now... and you could say the same for dmz

Anyway fuck you if you get upset with people calling it niche, grow up...
Yeah i get you, if i can take youre point how many fucking people have you heard saying " oh yeah ive got some new DMZ tunes", you fucking dont do you?its a club/record label not a fucking genre. if someone were to say " i have some new dubstep tunes" then that would be right... see what i mean?

trance music. i saw armen van buuren in the most fuck off tent with the most colossal sound system, thousands of people going mental, including all my mates, and i didnt get it. surely this kind of event has to be the absolute pinnacle for trance lovers? this is meant to be one of the worlds greatest trance dj's and it was just a series of people singing followed by ten minutes of thudding. this has to be one of the most uninventive, formulaic genres of music ive ever heard!

-key changes (usually the last chorus) boils my fucking blood

-people saying dubstep tunes all sound the same, this is made worse when you then go to the trouble of demonstrating how it doesn't at all by playing a mala track then a borgore track, then a joker track, then a 2562 track, then a zomby track then a widdler track etc... and they haven't payed any attention to any of it and still maintain that it still all sounds the same "but i quite like that eastern jam tune"

-same goes for people who say its repetitive because they aren't paying attention to all the little variations:
them - "its all the same noise for the melody"
me - "yes but the melody is constantly changing"
them - "no it isn't it just goes wob wob wob"
me- "that coz you arent paying enough attention"
them - "its still all the same noise though"
me - "do you like songs with guitars in?"
them - "yes... whats your point"

-people who say that because its made on a computer it requires no talent and there is no passion or soul, i can play drums like a motherfucker and barely break a sweat but using logic to make a dubstep tune melts my brain

-people who say metal is devoid of talent and just sounds like people being sick into a mic, go listen to BTBAM or Sikth if you think it doesn't require talent

-old metal heads that call ANYONE with short hair and jeans that fit emo

-scene kids calling other people scene kids

-people calling metal screamo

-most metal bands being shit and getting more heat than the good ones who deserve it

-people who think they have eclectic taste in music, this usually means what ever NME says is "in"

-stuff being "in"

-people who think anything remotely progressive or technical in music (i.e. awkward time signature changes and clever chord sequences) is weird

basically people... FUCK PEOPLE, stupid people with there stupid faces drinking their Starbucks and using their mobile phones, having conversations about nothing with people equally as unimportant and unimpressive as themselves
music is good, it's the people that ruin it!

listen mate am in the same boat as you, before i got into dubstep i was a bassline listener rocking all the way back from the speed garage days, and when people just 2 call bassline "niche" i would go nuts but now i dont even bother.. fuck it let them call it what they want to call it they r just shot it in the head! :u:

i know some people who saw him in miami and some of them thought it was mind blowing.

So is van buuren the trance equivalent of ricardo villalobos. I actually like minimal techno...but trance is too much.

Similar experience with Tiesto. Mixing wasn't even that good, and heard a couple of trainwrecks, but people obviously didn't care and were going nuts. I guess he has good selection and knows how to work the crowd, but i'm not into trance so no clue what he was spinning, sounded like an arpeggio going nuts for an hour. Couldn't even really see him do anything but wave his arms, but it seemed like he was using CD's. I also don't get the point of squashing 60-75 tunes into an hour mix. I'd rather hear 15-20 good tunes for more than 45 seconds each. I would guess he gets paid by labels to work x amount of their tunes into his sets.

I thought 'niche' is just a word for finding a certain little strand of a genre, or your little area of expertise (doesn't have to be music I suppose- whatever.) Is that right at all? Not really sure, but I don't understand how it can become the name of a genre. Thats like when people talk about 'special/specialist' music isn't it? Doesn't make any sense.

Niche means a position suited to whoever/whatever occupies it hence people finding their niche. Just happens to be a name of a club and then people use the club name as a genre name.

haha I thought you meant you were unsure as to what niche meant, didn't mean to come across all snooty.

And perhaps you just can't leave tunes that simple playing too long without people realising their bored.

99% of trance sucks hairy goat cock. Everyone I've known that has DJd trance has been a bit of a douche.
