It seems a pretty nice solution for the likes of me, seeking budget monitor with deep enough bass response.

SAMSON RESOLV 2.1
They had evil top end, really hurt my ears. I didn't like them but I guess a bit of adjusting around the back would be fine (if you can).

KRK ftw... tapco are Mackies budget line stuff, KRK are a decent company. That said, I never heard Tapcos... but KRKs are solid.

I heard the Tapco's (S5's and S8's), I didn't like the 5's very much compaired to the ones I bought (Prodipe Pro 5's) and I had to buy 5" or 6" because of the size of my room and space to put them. They will be supplemented with a Tapco SW10 however.
The S8's are excellent if you have a proper big studio, and can have the volume up all the time.
I didn't get a chance to hear the KRK's though.

i have a pair of NS10M's, powered by a 250 watt haflter. definitely don't LOVE 'em-- probably the least sexy-sounding speaker i've ever worked on.

but goddamn, it's true-- if your mixes sound good on these harsh, thin, mid-forward speakers-- they'll work anywhere. And if you can make your mixes sound full and bass-weighty on 'em, they'll be absolutely crushing in the club.

so. if i had an extra G laying around, i'd pick up the dynaudios for sure-- just to have something alot more pleasant to work on and generally listen to music on. but the ns10's definitely make me work (work my ass off) to get a good mixdown.

Signal goes to the woof, then from the woof to monitors.

I'd like to demo the Samson Rubicon R6As coupled with the R10 subwoofer before but it'd be one of these 2.

I'd decided to get one Mackie HR824 mkII and then save up for another one in the future. I think this is a better idea cos once I get the other one I don't think i'll ever have to upgrade, and I won't need a subwoofer to go with them as the bass is accurate to about 35hz.

I got this a couple of weeks ago but haven't really been able to use it for production yet cos I'm in Germany but as soon as I get back to England I'm gonna be at my computer as much as I can.

I'm very surprised no one has mentioned M-Audio's Bx8's...

I LOVE them!

Also, just to add, do yourself a favor, and STAY AWAY FROM SAMSON. I worked at the company who owns Samson, ... its all crap. We had more returns of samson products than anything else.. Even the Rubicons are highly dissappointing...
