Anyway,the US isn't a scene. This country is too spread out. A lot of little scenes here. People seem to be feeling dubstep all over though. I think it has only just begun.

Pittsburgh has shit going on, it's just scaled down. Reso, Rusko, N-Type, etc were all good shows. What more can you ask for out of a small city? Cleveland has had a lot of shows too.

I play out 2 or 3 times a month anymore and people would get sick of me probably, it's all good.

really wish i could of went to ntype yet again to young. Flying lotus on the 29th though.

It varies widely. After all, Chicago & Detroit arguably gave us all this electronic dance music in the first place (maybe along with Jamaica...) right? Or at least, EDM would be very different without those two metropolitan areas.

Now, Detroit is a super shithole (sorry but it's true) - but Chicago's pretty cool in its own way. At least, the food's better than 95% of the rest of the Midwest and there's lots to do all the time - a 24 hour town, unlike San Francisco, Austin, etc.

But Chi-town can also be pretty rough, racist (from both blacks & whites,) and not as cheap as it used to be.

any of you mainland younguns know if dubstep is played at raves? i'm curious to know but probably won't ever find out myself..

maybe in some side room or something... it is kind of a ravey type music but I don't think you necessarily need drugs to enjoy dubstep. they help, but are certainly not required.

do they even have raves anymore?

i check in on the raves now and again (i'm 33 and my main raving days are far, far gone, but i still have a connection to the scene)

at least in pgh, there's been a pretty big resurgance of raves in the past 3-4 years.

with certain rave promoters, the really obvious wobble party stuff is huge. i think amoung the ravers themselves, the interest is pretty
split, where some people hate it and others love it....just like pretty much every other rave genre of the past.

In Socal at least I know raving is still pretty big and it's growing.

I know they play dubstep at raves, not every single one, but some of them. And when they play it's only really mainstream dubstep

came here to brag about denver :O

we easily get better shows (all electronic music) than anywhere in the country outside possibly san fransisco... but we have better mountains, better beer and cheaper rent

i mean beatport is based out of denver and even owns their own club ffs.

Beat me to it, agreed. Only thing is most of the dubstep we get at raves around here is from local people. I haven't seen one dubstep headliner on a rave bill yet and that may have something to do with the fact that a lot of ravers are hating now. Let's face it outside of 3 or 4 of us, everyone else are dubstep n00bs. Not saying they all suck but I do think you get a better set out of someone that has knowledge about the music they are playing. IDK. Yeah I don't go to raves unless I am booked to play there.

True. I can't think of any rave promoters who have booked a true dubstep headliner yet, although i could see it happening.
I think most of the local rave promoters rely on locals or regional djs than they do national/international headliners.

It's cheaper, and I think either the promoters don't know any better or they think the ravers don't know any better.

They don't. It is much easier to book headliners that haven't been relevant since the mid 90's
