9 months in the game so my mastering sucks, any advice/constructive critism :)

i know this isnt what you asked for feedback on but the tune in your signature is sick would you mind telling me where you got the sample from??
the vocal sample was a preset from fruity loops ha, just chopped it up a bit to make it fit :)

kaiori breathe wrote:Need some crit on the track in my sig. I like it musically, but production wise it's lacking. I'm having problems with it.

First off the kick is really weak. The snare has no mid-section hit. The opening pad has too much high end. The drum loop at the start has too much high end. The sub bass in the breakdown is really pissing me about too. It sounds really weak, especially on the lower notes, but I can't seem to fix it, i've tried boosting at 60hz and lower to fix it but it doesn't resolve the problem (I know common n00b problem). I don't know what to do with this thing and I'm really close to just giving up on it and never mixing it down properly. I need help. Have I analyzed the problems correctly? Or am I way off the mark? Also, any suggestions on how to fix the problem with the sub are very welcome.
i enjoyed this, did you write the intro yourself? or was it a sample. the kick seems a bit too clicky and the bass seems a bit over distorted?
sounds like you know what you need to fix so its a matter of learning how to do it ha
production is generally quite solid though :)

yeah im feelin this one :P kinda rusko-ish in a good way :) maybe stick more reverb on the snare so it proper rings out, maybe not on every snare hit, but a the end of each phrase or on every other hit? and maybe a touch of reverb on the bassline so it isnt quite as harsh (if your usin logic the plat verb or somethin wud be perfect for this) :) drum programmin is nice and tight though, nice work :D

again loving this, loving the vocal sample, from blackstreet init? anyway the sound gets a bit samey after a while, it wouldnt hurt to throw in some catchy pads every so often. what i do love is the drums, i would of thrown in some switch up in there somewhere, but thats just me. a few elements to consider, but still a really nice track.
Thanks for the feedback, i can definitely see where you're coming from :). Will open up the project again laters and see if i can get some of your reccomendations working in there :D. Great idea on the switch up btw!

Great track here man, perfect amount of reverb on the drums to give the overall track a real nice atmosphere. I love the way the track progresses after around 1:40, wonderful work on the bass and percussion too.

Really love what you've done with the guitars here, nice chilled vibes. Although i think it could work without the 'wob', i don't think it does too much to take away from the feel of the track aslong it's kept simple and doesn't start to overwhelm other elements of the track. Great work on the bass at the end and overall this is a real nice track, following you on SoundCloud. :D

@ Collission course - I can't critisize the track, it works, very well put together, and as said before the drums sound great. I will have to question that kick though. I know you don't want something that's gonna smack you in the face for this type of track but still... it sounds like someone knocking on a window. Either layer that up or replace. Great track though :D

@ Heretik - Punchy drums, did they really have to be so compressed? let 'em breathe man, you owe it to the song. sounding cool though :)

@ The Shah - post feedback before asking for some next time. That lead thing is cool, bit repetitive after a while, maybe switch up some processing on it. Intro sounds a bit confusing so I would stear clear from a dj point of view but if you don't really want it spun then no problem eh?

My latest attempt is in my sig, let me know what I can do to improve

Wish I could say something more than just telling you that this sounds great but that's pretty much all I've got. Great production value. Not a single flaw imo.

Also, thanks for the massive crit, really big help. I'll try the tube amp idea and try and get some real drum sounds in.

Everything was written myself. Just threw it together using FL keys. The bass may well be overdistorted but I think just sorting out the attack on it should solve that, it comes in very harshly I think. But thanks for the comments.

@dub lemon, nice tune, pretty good production, the bass lines are nice, the tune was a wicked vibe, love the CH samlpe, would work on the snare but thats all.

@CollisionCourse, i like the intro, like the clicky snare, kick needs to be a lil more defined, snare could do with a lil more punch, but suits the track i guess, bass gets a lil repetitive. nice atmosphere.

@dignan, cool beat, nice drop, loving that bass mate, nice fx and samples. not much else to say but big tune.

@tundra i'd make the intro a lil shorter, also change up the snare it sounds a bit weak to me. Could probs do with a lil less panning on the hats also.

The vibe is generally cool and the sub is nice doe. keep at it!
