No questions but I would just like to say, you are a god for doing this.. so many producers that have made it big aren't even willing to post on any message boards, they ignore any questions about producing and such, let alone post screenshots of their own made secrets and hard work.. Of course many people have said this in the thread but I for one truly appreciate this, thank you for taking time out of your life to enlighten complete strangers with your knowledge!

I was (and still do) didn't really know what i was doing so if people are willing to spend the time to read the cobblers i write then i'm more than willing to share a few pointers with you all.
I'm not doing anything that a lot of people on this forum aren't already doing (if not a hell of a lot better than me)
Being really secretive with the way i do things is not how i operate, it's music for fucks sake not ministry of defense intelligence secrets.
plus by sharing some of my tricks forces me to come up with all new tricks right?

Q. What food n drink you rockin' in the studio?
Coffee, bacon n eggs in the morning, tea and haggis/fish/pizza in the evening, plus a pack of silver bensons. The lifestyle of a champion I think you'll agree.

But if say you don't like a kick or snare, do you preview different ones in context or while song is playing to find one that fits better?
Also do you load up large kits in a sampler or drum machine to preview using a midi controller while song is playing?

best thread I've read in a while, cheers for doing this mate
one question, how long do you spend on sound design? seems like all I do now is sound design and I never get down to actually making music, do you have the same problem or is it pretty straightforward getting your sounds sorted?

Well first of all I must say that your tunes are really unique, very refreshing !
I think you've answered a bit of questions about bass making but I was wondering ... I know you start everything with a chord sequence you like (and mess with a melody) but do you think approaching a bass-line a bit like a drum part helps for heavier sounding tunes and do you also do it ? (like in a purely rythmic kind of fashion and still having the chord progression). (Big ups from Quebec and the Montreal dubstep scene (which is quite huge)).

I'm curious if you could shed some light on the synths and effects you used for the pads and leads in Hyperglide...some kind of unison plug or what?
This Q&A is great by the way, thanks for the knowledge.

Yeah that lead synth is doing my head in. Seems like a basic square wave synth type thing with some band or lo pass filter movement but mine never sounds as good....

Hey Reso, sick tunes mate. Thanks for taking the time.
I'm just having a listen once again to "Hemisphere". You mentioned before a little about how you approach pads, and hemisphere has some great pad sounds. Could you explain a bit more about what you used in that track? I used to use FM8 a lot, but have been really trying to invent my own lately. But i am finding this the hardest area to find tutorials on inventing from scratch, probably as most people bang on some presets. Any further tips there?

yo yo rez, big up on the production skillz - lotsa hard work paying off!!
I've been producing genres other than dubstep for awhile and your sound inspired me to start producing dubstep - if you can't beat em

what I've yet to figure out is how to do the resampling bit - can you explain your approach? perhaps a step by step on how you would generate some of those killer mid range sounds?
cheers mate keep up the good work

Here's what your looking for, a complete guide towards resampling.
(P.S. : might want next time to consider the search button).

Hi Reso, thanks for doing this, I dig your tracks, Climbing the Walls is a beast.... and I have reviewed your new dnb release with the Qemists on a website I blog for so when the guy in charge sticks it up I'll link it here, not dubstep but still a great track.

Do you use a lot of distortion (bass, drums etc)?
And if so, what is your favourite distortion plugin/s to use?
You also mentioned breaks earlier so the obligatory top 5 breaks question must be asked
