Its a debate that will never be settled...
I was talking about youtube , plenty of labels and artists have their own pages on youtube. Why do people take it upon them selves to upload full length tunes on youtube in the name of helping to promote a labels music , aren't labels capable of doing that them selves if they choose to have their tunes on there? STholdings one of the main distributors have their own page on youtube with 2/3min spliced clips of every release that comes out through them isn't this enough promotion for dubstep without people uploading full length tunes?

You're missing the point. I run our youtube page and it has a finite audience because it is only our label. We submit our tracks to ID because his audience and the amount of interest in his channel

If you look at ST Holdings channel, ID's channel had about a dozen single videos with more views than st holdings channel has had in its entirety.

I get the point and im not talking about Inspector Dubplate as he seemed to have some artists hooking him up ,I was mainly aiming my discussion about a lot of the other channels people take it upon them selves to upload full length tunes on youtube in the name of helping to promote a labels music , aren't labels capable of doing that them selves if they choose to have their tunes on there? well, judging by the amount of crying going on in this thread, you have to see that the attitude taken by some people here is that its no big deal, and that the moment a tune is created and scheduled on a label, then the world owns it and is free to do whatever the hell they want with it.

this is the state of digital culture right now. everyone expects things on a silver platter, with no arguments, and entitlements given by virtue of free access.

People are crying because ID was given the tunes by labels and artists, most of which were unsigned to begin with. I'm no fan of the music, but every single video I've seen by him was either a mix or a new track by an unsigned artist. He was hardly destroying the intellectual property of the dubstep scene.

If that label sends the tune to a host of a blog, youtube channel, radio host, dj whatever than it isn't a big deal. Infact that's the definition of something not being a big deal. If all parties involved are ok with it, then a big deal it is not.

quit trying to start shit that isn't there. There's plenty of more interesting drama on this forum.... don't need to fabricate make believe shit

Pfff... I gotta admit, i sometimes use youtube to listen to a new dubstep tune. Yet it is rare.

I know, we gotta move on with technologies blah blah blah... But shit, online shops, mp3's of set recorded by all the big dj's in the scene, online radios broadcasting a wide range of dubstep, they are technology! And people just don't do it anymore . If you prefer typing "dubstep" into youtube than dowloading last Bunzero, Ben UFO, Blackdown mix or whatever "filth" dj you like if you're into the "filth" sound, then i can't help myself feeling sorry for you and thinking you're helping to kill the work of the dj and the record shops.

And i know that makes me an elitist in the eyes of some people here... I couldn't care less.

There's no point in arguing this since we can't see the videos now that his account is suspended. If you can show that he uploaded signed tracks explicitly without label's permission, I would be very interested in seeing it, but until then I'm inclined to side with pkay as he has regular contact with him (I'm assuming you've never talked to the guy).

right so, why did he get shut down then? if everything was approved, and well handled this thread wouldn't exist. what can we deduce from that? come on, its not that hard to see.

think about the amount of copyright infringement on youtube...and then think about why they pulled the plug on his channel. youtube don't do this sort of thing without basis.

No idea. Youtube works in mysterious ways. Mt. Eden's channel is doing great despite some very obvious copyright violations. The only reason Sierra Leone got taken down is because of the picture that it was uploaded with. :?

In 2008 our old distros legal folks had the official Mindsaw channel shut down because it was registered under the incorrect copyright holder on accident.

It really doesnt take much to get shit shut down on youtube.
