@voodeedoo: i like the second track, the secondary part. perhaps focus on that, try some timing and note variations and give the bassline a little more life. reminds me of bassnectar and pretty lights.

@akoma: there is so much bass coupled with your synth being reverby, adds an interesting depth but i agree with the poster above the mix needs some tweaking.

@bryzer: cool song but i feel like it lacks melodically (not unusual for this style), and a lot of the non-yoy synths are too loud. tangent, what's on deck for the excision show this week? & are you gonna ride out to tampa for itchy and sluggo in a couple weeks?

@dequo: i like this track a lot, you should tie up the ends and give it a proper mix down! good vibes here

Hi! This is my first time posting any of my work here, and this particular bit happens to be the first real baby that me and my new computer have made together :) i enjoy this track and it's looking like it will be the first that I will actually finish. i am currently peeling through a mass of percussion & effects sample packs to fix up the drums and get some fun incidentals in there but i think my synth and sub bass needs work, as well as i'm thinking a little background melody or simply a secondary synth doing something a little different but in sync would be nice. more activity basically. i often can hear the secondary sounds in my head no problem but i run in to trouble actually creating the particular sound i have in mind and then making it fit sonically, whether it is a certain lowish bass, or a mid-high synth, etc.

any criticisms, tips, thread-ref's and the like are greatly appreciated!

@ amphibian - (break even)I liked the track when there was less going on, but maybe that's me. I would take the intro and so some things to it and make that the entire song. Again, just my opinion.

@ ironik - I'm not feeling the intro at all tbh, but I love the vocal before the drop. The drop is pretty good, but man the drums could use some variation. I don't care for the drum sounds themselves either tho.

@ billy crystal - I love the breathy sounding bass and the too short scratch sample! The track needs some direction tho if you know what I mean?

@ dubsleazy - Nice grove from the chords, but your sub and kick are colliding. Try to pick your sounds a bit better. Like everything about the music, just not feelin the drums and that kick has too much sub.

@ gimpy - I like the drums and the overall feel of the track a good bit. Not so sure about the bass?

@ Grime Syndicate - I'm not really feelin this one to be honest. It doesn't really know what it's trying to be?

@ naw - Pretty nice stuff you got goin on. The mix lacks punch right now, but I'm not great at giving that kind of advice.

@ Steeple - I dig the 808s you got goin, but the track doesn't seem to go anywhere yet. Maybe you'll fix that.

@ offerman - Nice vibes goin on here. It's dark yet pretty at the same time. Good stuff.

The rest of you, I will leave comments on your soundcloud.

Here is a little something me and a crew I met on soundcloud are workin on. It's pretty aggressive, but that's kind of my thing... It's not really mixed at all yet, and it's not really done any further than the first drop.

@ CBK81 : Holy shit dude!!! that was BUMPINNNNNN, that formant bass was awesome, no idea how you made that. Drums sounded great maybe a tiny bit more variation after the bass stops? Vocal samples were awesome and fit the track well, where do you get your vocal samples? I'm having a hard time finding good ones. Short and sweet, lovin it. I would love to know some of your production techniques but understand if you wanna keep them to yourself hahaha, mad props.

@Gabezor - Dudeee! I really like this one Great noises, and your snare is awesome! Great work on the mixdown, don't have much to say about that. my only qualm is that it feels like your beat could use a few more syncopated breaks to catch the listener off guard. Yea basically I think it could use some more breaks where it can give those synths a rest because they do get a little stale. great start!

@CBK81 - Epic drums in the intro. Perfect drop in all actuality. You sound like you know what you are doing for sure. That hihat on the offbeat is so penetrating! That shit is so intense. haha I don't have much critisizm for you, sick track. I will be looking forward to its completion.

@Bledbox - Cool intro I enjoy the minimalness of it. might I add that that bass noise is so powerful and unique! I think your drums(hihats) could be a little less quantized sounding some swing would be awesome! overall though this is a sweet track every part melds together pretty well. great work and I like its relatively stripped down nature. The sample is really silly too btw.

Here is my latest track Ive been working on really hard for the last month I am trying to make something super sick. Please let me know what you think! Its only done through the drop and first 16 bars or so but I think you will get the idea. Brostep haters beware lol! ITs a little quite cus im mixing it down and forgot to put some gain on the master for a preview.

sup brah, sounding good man! the intro could be as simple as just adding some reverb to fill it out and make it sound more full, for a more dancey effect though, maybe add some stabs?

what DAW are you using btw?

@MrSaturn, drums are sounding pretty mint besides the kick which could use 3% more OOMPH, bass synth could use some variation (maybe another mid bass synth, something to jump between?) Wobble sounds good, but could use with another new effect and dry/wet automation over the whole thing. A big melodic intro completely unlike the rest of the track might suit it well. Bass drop synth @ 1:00 is kind of boring for being completely soloed, make it more interesting.

@JdLegion, sounding real proper. Track reminds me of I Need Air - Magnetic Man (besides that cheesy accordiony tone you got in there, yuck). Shit like this has radio potential. No feedback on mixdown or samples, as this sounds real proper. Big ups.

@KillerBuddah, this one is right up my alley. Loving the kickdrum triplet rolls you stuck in there and the lazyish speeding up bassline. Real aggro and great for a mix. /follow

@Billuh, intro is real deep, good filter work but maybe a little too much automation? there's a lot to pay attention to if you know what i mean.
Drop is pretty much gangster as fuck, which i expect for six months of work. So good on you for keeping in there. Subs drive it along perfectly, sit well in the mix. Guitarish bass sound is ill. More of this. I need some black guy shouting "motherfucker" and "keep it real" or something cheesy like that on top. Piano is sick, as a trained musician since a kid i appreciate outros like this big time.

@Bledbox, drums are too hip hoppy and not hard hitting enough to sit with this bassline, and as a result, the ride sounds weak when it comes in too (but this actually works for the breakdown, might want to leave that part as is) Layer and then drop some distortion on your kick and snare (BE GENTLE MAN, IS NOT GUITAR) Besides that i really enjoy it. Tech'd out and dnb inspired. (My brain is telling me there's Albino 3 cream filters all over these basslines, is it right?)

@LordBid, sub parts in the intro are too loud and keep your other levels down :( . There's a lot of nice bass ideas in here, but they pretty much all need some sculpting and love (especially that formanty/bitcrushy YA YA YAYAYA) I'll be watching for this one's completion, has so much good potential. Keep sculpting my man, let your ears direct you and don't tire them out too bad.

Rainy day here today, feelin pretty down so i recorded some piano parts with my microkorg, and then i made some dnb beats to go with it. Feedback on levels is appreciated. (This one is kind of hospital/london elektricity/high contrast inspired)

Hey man, cheers. What do you mean by stabs? I use Logic Pro 9 for my DAW, plus a number of both native and 3rd party plugins.

@billuf Hi! Too much amen going on here. i mean, the pattern it's just excellent but not in the whole song maybe just only in the intro and adding some amen cuts in the main track but not all the pattern.

@CBK81 Over the top production bro! Sick synths and great drum work too. Big up the two of you for that!

@lordbid There's alot missin in the overall composition but this is a works in progress topic so i guess that should be normal haha :) anyway, the snare it's... weird, it's like dry and rally odd to me i don't know. About the main bassline the synhtesis is quite good, but no feeling the way it progresses, but whit a little bit of work on thet you should have a supersick bass on it no time :)

@Bledbox Really good main idea for the track, with the proper drum beeffing should be good. and Adding something new to the 2nd drop would be interesting too

@Gabezor hmm the drum work it's ok but the bassline i didn't really feel it man sorry :( obviously this is under construction maybe in the future maybe it turns out to be the new excision & Datsik kinda fever who knows

@P-snodub
This is my first track i've posted here, so heres a little background...

21 years old from Hartford,CT,USA. Been producing with logic for about 7 months now, here's a recent one...I'm playing around with the bass as we speak.

Soundcloud
This track is gold man! Really liked it, just work on some arrangemets on the intro and sit back and enjoy :) :)

I'm posting this as a unfinished track because i feel it has something i have to tweak a little bit more or changing something and i would like to hear some opinions about it
Soundcloud

It's like like a hench kind of track with a silly bass kind of sound.

Good or bad? :w:

@gabezor sounding pretty good maybe some more fx and a bit more variation in the wobbles feels lacking in intensity but solid effort m8

@JD-LEGION really like your mixdown sounds excellent and great vibe to this track

@CBK81 geez man thats a real banger you got there! looking forward to the finished one for sure the bass is nice and heavy and the drums have some real guts to them bigups

Heres something i started last month but have only really thought about getting stuck into it now. Pretty happy with the feel but thinking about adding another mid synth to vary it a bit more any feedback/suggestions appreciated

@tekn: big fan of those nice creepy, super-verbed chords. not such a big fan of the wobble starting at :57, but then they sound alot better around 1:25. but yea dude, those chords until :57, kill. love it. maybe just tone down the verb a tad, so as to limit the competing notes on overlaying values.

@p-snodub: daaaaamn man, really really dig it. not sure how much i like that snare, or whatever the drum between the rimshots and claps is. that could use some tweaking, but thats so minor. whatever. i def cant do better anyways. GOOD work man, great track. very chilled out.

@kievccs: i think you really oughtta turn that snare down man, its hurting my ears a tad. nice creepy chords every 4 bars, like those alot. also it'd be really cool if you dropped the snare at 1:37 to really let the wah take over rhythmically for a bit, but thats all taste.

I'm embarrassed that this is the third time im posting this WIP in here, very, but I've changed it up alot and would really appreciate some more constructive criticism. anywho:

i like where its goin so far. Simple but well done, but as u said it needs more development. Its good that you still have left room in this track, thats a lot better than cluttered tracks that got nothing good going in them.
Id make the bass a little more present/not as much reverb. Drums need development too. Throw in some extra drum patterns when u change it up. Theres room to throw in some more dark ambient pads to complement the one u got in there already. Maybe some vocal snippets too?

Clean production. Ur drums are all sounding very crisp. The bassline is kinda boring and too distorted for me. It needs more movement or something...

diggin it man. Very chill and relaxin. For what ur goin for, sounds pretty complete already.. not much to critique. One small thing though, the snare sounds all mid/low range.. maybe throw a sharper one layered on top. Other than that, ive never made dub style tunes b4 so.. dont know what to look for. Sounds good though, keep it up.
