I have a perfect example...

and the difficult part of this story has to do with liking parts of it..

ok - I like grafitti - I do - love characters and stickers..
grew up with scratch and sniffs and sanrio from the local Hallmark Shop..that's greeting cards

so... We had to design a die cut box in Drawing for Design class - you know a box that is cut from a flat piece of board and folds in whatever way to become a box of some sort or what have you...

here's mine...It's a Magical Otter Box - inside is a tiny otter w/a magical silver ball tied to it's neck..it jingles



So -This girl walks in with this cardboard shipping box under her arm..and sets it down
and I'm waiting for her to open it - to bring her stuff out - but no

The shitty shipping box is her box...

If you got close enough - you could see that she took some really expensive matt board
- cut it - ripped it - made a shipping sticker to go on -
and basicly took hours - to make really expensive materials look like a $2 shipping box..

inside she had 6 cans of brand new - most expensive spray paints

and was passing it off as a grafitti starter kit...

I was so offended and disgusted by the whole thing..

DESPITE the superior craftsman ship..

That's like - taking candy from babies...nahmean?

It is 10 times more obnoxious to try and compete down...knowing full well


When it came time in critique - for me to say something - I had to remain completely silent..

or else I would have sounded like I was jealous of her skill
when really I was disgusted with her ethics

and was verbally unprepared to do discreet battle IN CLASS.

I was literally in shock at the bastardization.

I mean...

What if she is just some flakey rich girl who loves grafitti...

I may be holding her accountable for more sarcasm than she is capable of..
