if you have been to a decent club/club night in LDN anytime this year, you will know why night slugs are being called 'label of the year'

if you are a hourly cumshedder who sits on his dildo most fridays reading dubstepforum (sorry, punchmyselfinthefaceforum) then you will undoubtedly be confused as to why nightslugs are being called 'label of the year'.

Take your kryptic minds cd out of the player and get with 2010 ffs, 2005 IS GONE, ACCEPT IT.

ridiculous statement.

especially calling out Kryptic Minds who im pretty sure are universally accepted to be putting out some high quality premium releases.

if swamp81 wins label of the year it wouldnt have happened without KM.

I think Girl Unit are a great addition to dubstep and Night Slugs are taking things in an interesting direction but 'WUT's obscenely sugary synths certainly don't make it tune of the year for me. Not disrespecting it as it is decent, and clearly getting a lot love.
I like (most of) my shit moody and hard and always will.

and also to be honest as much as I love new music, old music is timeless and I can revisit 2005 whenever I want via my collection

is it wrong to enjoy both the music of the past and the present? think i'm gonna mix some girl unit with some kryptic minds when i get home, sounds like it could be :m:

fractal of course there isn't anything wrong with enjoying the past, youngsta sets 2005-6 are obviously the best thing to ever come out of dubstep.

murky21, you have yet to disprove my point. If swamp 81 wins a label of the year award, I doubt it will be for the slow plod, boring releases from kryptik minds that sound as if they were released 4 years too late, that's what I'm 'on about' with that line.

oh

Girl Unit is not dubstep.

are we concerned with genre names still?

girl unit is as much dubstep as it is house, imo

fuck arguing, let's dance!

lol :| stupid post

everyone is entitled to their opinion. no one is questioning the label night slugs, they're talking about a single tune.

I didn't mention house, I just said it wasn't dubstep, and that's pedantic to be honest as you knew why and in what context I meant that. It was more to drag it away from the 'dubstep label of the year' tag

I'm sorry this isn't very good. It's so incredibly cheesy.

I'd rather it wasn't saved and left as it was frankly. I mean the Jack Sparrow album just came out. If you think dubstep needs saving from that then I'll embrace it's death with open arms.
Well put, sir!

Icicle, Ben Verse, Kryptic Minds, Jack Sparrow et. al are doing a very nice job already, and not resorting to cheap club antics.

So far noone has actually made a case for why this stuff is good. Sounds like fat, club-worthy productions, decent, but repetitive rhythm, and straight up BORING melodic progressions, if any. If this is "label of the year" we're really in trouble...

Personally really dont think that Kryptic Minds sound like 2006 tunes. Obviously influenced maybe but theres alot of differences.

I doubt you would like any halfstep tune that was made in 2010.

okay, but you can't base 1 guy's opinion on the majority, the discussion was originally about 'wut'.

you don't like what some people have said about girl unit, but what you said about kryptic minds is pretty unjust as well.

my post was at the people confused as to why the label of the year tag is being thrown about.

Again, back to my original point: if you have been to a good club/night in LDN or Bristol in the last 12-14 months, you will understand as to why night slugs are being considered label of the year (notice how i left out the word dubstep)

the kryptik minds dig was with regards to that style of output this year, which as I explained in my opinion above, it just sounds clinically mixed down, utterly boring and like it was made 4 years too late.

which to be fair is a bit un-just, as the original comment was a generalisation within reference to the attempt of bringing back the 'golden era' of dubstep by them.

dubson you are quite right about the second part.
