That's a pretty awful argument. Justin Bieber is great.

I'm not gonna go down the whole 'you are wrong because you dont like skrillex' route. That's a dumb way to be. But calling his music generic blows me away.
See that's the problem. For me it sounds like just throwing loads of sounds together for no reason aside from that it self. It's ironically very predictable thanks to it's attempts to be all crazy. None of the sounds themselves are particularly special and it has no life in it's rhythms or arrangements. It's technically well produced but that is in the same way that pop music technically is. It still feels very lifeless. His music also gives off a real horrible vibe/attitude/aesthetic also. Just rubs me the wrong way.

You see, A lot of people like all of that, me included. The contrast between the verses and the chorus/drop makes it sound that much heavier.

Basically, i think that a lot of people who listen to metal/rock love skrillex (judging by the people who were at his gig when i was there.) Which makes sence when you see all the moshers ect at his gigs.

I have always listened to rock, it's only lately that i've gotten into any form of electric music. To me, electronic music all sounded very wimpy and weak. But that's only cus ii was never exposed to anything other than 'dance'. New dubstep is the frist proper electric music i've found with aggro and balls, it's loud and in your face like metal.

Anyway, I don't really know where I'm going with this haha.

I agree with skrillix been v predictable due to his attempts at trying to have the craziest sounds. Might sound interesting for a track or two, but novelties wear off very quick, you need substance to stay relevant and fresh.

Whuaha this made me laugh so hard.

You should get an award for describing something that is absolutely horrid and trying to make it sound brilliant.

I wonder how you would describe the process of a dog taking a shit?

You see, it's that attitude that garners him a lot of hate. Dubstep before it was called dubstep was sort of an exploration of the darker, more moody sides of garage/2step/DnB without the overly aggro synths or cheeze that was dominating. And then it sort of became it's own thing and splintered off into the different styles we have now with producers straddling both types (see Skream, DMZ, Zomby). But it's still rarely been music to mosh to and that wasn't the prevailing attitude. Now you have Skrillex and other electro-house producers making this tearout stuff with fans who think it's all dubstep when most of it isn't, and they start getting very hyped in a punk rock type of way which is cool for a Skrillex show but it sucks when they come to a DJ night and start dancing like it's a college club/bar. It's worse when they become the dominant people at Dj nights and have 'dubstep' producers play stuff at 150+bpm and only play tearout with drop after drop.

It's cool that you've found electronic music that you like, but if your thing is Skrillex, it really isn't dubstep. There's a bunch of good dubstep producers around who make music that has a punch that isn't exclusively midrange wobble. Look at Zomby's Tears in the Rain, that's a massive song but it's not obnoxious. Check out Jakes or Vex'd. Those artists are dubstep. It's not that people hate on tearout, it's that they hate on really boring, predictable, formulaic tearout that only has a passing resemblance to dubstep made for the kids who were into psytrance three years ago and are now clinging to the new big style.

It's like this: Imagine you're a hip-hop head in the early 90s and you're listening to Wu Tang, Mobb Deep, Nas, and Notorious BIG. This music is fresh and raw and has something that the club rap and popular rap at the time didn't have. It's grittiness was unreal. Now imagine someone comes along a couple years later after it blows up and starts taking the general idea of the music but surrounds it with the crap you hated about clubrap. This is pretty much the analogy. Or if it's easier since you're into rock, Nirvana was a breath of fresh air in popular music when Nevermind dropped. Two or three years later you had all these 'post-grunge' bands that were terrible and bastardizing the music. They didn't know about punk rock or hardcore, they weren't really part of the 'scene' or thinking about the music. They were just making the sound that sold. Puddle of Mudd is an example of this. Or we can talk about Good Charlotte and Simple Plan to punk rock in general.

it couldn't possibly be the fact he acts like a douchey rockstar, or the fact his music is ear splitting terrible, or the fact that his fans are a scourge of the earth. it's just that we're all jealous of his 15 minutes of fame. yes, that must be it.

These comments are old, and pretty dumb. Just about every dubstep artist I like is successful, hence how I found out about their music in the first place. Yet they make good music, so they get no hate. Skrillex makes garbage, and gets hated on. Surely it's not because of his success

mate, you're in a state of mind that has been plaguing the internet for far too long now...
this whole "y'all be hatin"-phenomenon baffles me. it's perfectly ok to not like something and say so, it's just expressing an opinion. but guys like you act like it's an offense, and i mean even if it was offensive why the fuck should you bother? who the fuck's talking to you anyway?

how can you possibly enjoy spending your time like that? is that a fun life? running around defending other people whom you don't even know in anonymous arguments on the internet.
is this like teenage girls trying to defend their favorite pop star, do you hope that skrillex himself will read this comment of yours and thank you for it, or invite you to his magical cloud kingdom where you can sleep with his groupies or some shit?

or wait, this is some rock music thing right? like black metal kids arguing whether burzum is still trve or death metallers bashing nu metallers bashing metalcore bashing whatever the fuck else. the musical equivalent to teenage peer groups.

someone please explain this shit to me :corntard:

there's a distinct difference between "hating" and expressing true dislike. i really cannot stand skrillex or anything about him. his music is noisy waste, he looks like a clown, his fans (you) are garbage, his live show is garbage, his old band was garbage and their fans were also garbage, i genuinely think he is just a disease to the overall spectrum of music. good for him he's gonna make a little money... do i have to like everyone who makes money? this "hater" shit is complete garbage and shows just how much of an idiot you are. you're defending a guy and his fans who think it's amazing to stand on top of a table and turn a knob on a midi controller and make a bunch of garbled noise come out. seriously? get the fuck out of here. :Q:
