I do not think this'll happen. Ever.

You know, I'm just gonna see what happens. If there is a 3rd LP by Loefah, or if he gives away a lot of old dubs he may or may not hate, I will be very happy.
If nothing happens, it'll make me sad but I'm not going to cry about it.
Although...

midnight is literally one of the best tunes. of all time.
Re: DMZ LP003 - LOEFAH ??
I think the cassette release will blow all these "lost dubs" out of the water.... Midnight is pretty good, but I think we sometimes romanticize these old tunes quite a bit

totally. fantastic at the time, still great now but that time is gone...

Why's that time gone?mikey g wrote:fractal wrote:.... Midnight is pretty good, but I think we sometimes romanticize these old tunes quite a bit

and what about Boiler Suit, Norwood, Woman, Left right Left, Memory Loss, Struck Dumb and the other dubs? If they're still great now, why shouldn't they be released for those of us who still appreciate them enormously?
Re: DMZ LP003 - LOEFAH ??
I don't think this is going to happen, My reason is because when Mala announced the release of Education/Horrid Henry he labelled the thread as DMZ0??. This could of meant that they were in discussion of Loefah releasing an LP and if they would of gone through with it then the LP would of been 021, 022, 023, making Education 024 instead of 021.
Also it seems that Loefah is a bit Embarrassed by his old style now? Would love to be proved wrong though.

Education/Henry was labelled DMZ0?? initially because Urban Ethics still hadn't been confirmed

Because time moves on. I hate saying it but things are moving fwd not back.
Also why should they be released just because you like them?
I would like to own and mix them but I also think there's something really special about only hearing them on very rare occasions. I want more unique memories like that rather than just more tunes to play every week.

Then again if there was no LP then surely Loefah would of said something, he has posted in this thread already so he is aware of it. Letting all this hype build for people to eventually be disappointed is not cool.

Do you think then that Mala's and Coki's releases shouldn't have happened just because those tunes weren't new?mikey g wrote: Because time moves on. I hate saying it but things are moving fwd not back.

I think this community is mostly based on the love people have for some tunes and the pleasure they get by eventually owning them on vinyl..
Could you please explain on what occasions you get to hear those tunes nowdays? Who's spinning older Loefah atm?
Re: DMZ LP003 - LOEFAH ??
Well tbf some of the coki and mala tunes were alot more recent than the loefah ones you refer to so its hardly a fair comparison.dopocc wrote:Do you think then that Mala's and Coki's releases shouldn't have happened just because those tunes weren't new?mikey g wrote: Because time moves on. I think this community is based on the love people have of the music regardless of whether they actually own the tunes. Ownership isn't a necessity to enjoy.
I believe Youngsta still plays some old loe tunes, Oney might if you're lucky but thats the exact point that I'm making. If you hear a set now with those tunes in its an event, its a special memory because it really means something to you. The more the tunes get played or passed around the less special it becomes. Eg. Just a beat.
Re: DMZ LP003 - LOEFAH ??
I have never heard someone play out J.A.B since it got given away, except for the time I played it out, and it got good reception. So it's not like a release of idk norwood, woman or boiler suit will lead to absolute over-playing of them.
I believe Yunx's copy of Midnight is almost dead, Hatcha's copy of Norwood sounds like a deep fryer etc. All the old Loefah acetates are dying, and the only places where they get played on from time to time are on the radio.

Re: DMZ LP003 - LOEFAH ??
Quite a lot of those Coki tunes have been around since, what, 2005? Some of the Mala ones were bare old too. I don't think you can say that the time has moved on for Loefah to release old tunes but the time hasn't passed for Coki to release Intergalactic or Old Hope. Doesn't make sense.mikey g wrote:Well tbf some of the coki and mala tunes were alot more recent than the loefah ones you refer to so its hardly a fair comparison.dopocc wrote:Do you think then that Mala's and Coki's releases shouldn't have happened just because those tunes weren't new?mikey g wrote: Because time moves on. I know what you're saying though, when Yunx does drop those old Loefah tunes the dancefloor is like

. Still he won't play them forever and it has been years. Release them I say!
