I find it a bit un-nerving that people don't want to push themselves or want more.

It often comes with maturity and age. It's a bit unfair to generalise in this way as most people I know and associate with tend to want to improve themselves and learn more.
Some of the material in this show is stuff that a lot of people won't have studied for years, and It's always going to be basic when targeted at a mass audience.

I can obviously only speak for myself but I think a bit of an unfair representation. I personally watch this as more of an entertainment show. If it teaches me something, then brilliant. And it has, for that matter. A lot of it I already know but there's bits and pieces which are really interesting. The main thing that makes this better than a lot of stuff is that it doesn't get too bogged down with complex maths that might stop it from being entertaining and inspiring.
That said, if I want to learn I'll go and read a book or look up some serious scientific lectures on the net.

Watched the final one of this series last night, I was a bit baked but I thoroughly enjoyed it. By far the strongest one of the series.
Contemplating buying the BR boxed set for a tenner.... but I have them on Xvid O_O

firky wrote:Did anyone think the one on Gravity was pony? This series has been weaker than the last but this episode was really bad. If anyone watching needs the basic principles of gravity taught to them, then why are they even watching the show or up at 9pm?
this was exceptionally poor, i found the explanation/comparison with mountain ranges utterly confusing and pointless
watch Michio Kaku's lectures on youtube, he is great

Deamonds, ever read Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku?
It hasn't dumbed anything down, but it is readable and covers loads of interesting topics.
Highly recommend it.
