Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
Future Jugle made the newest Computer Music Special on beats and bass. Must be here to stay
I'm all for it. I'm in my 30's and still listen to 94/95 jungle coz its my favourite period of music EVER! I also love dubstep and the thought of the 2 merging makes me happy

Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
I've always liked jungle and a few dubstep tunes I've found that are not strictly halfstep or have breaks. I'm going to keep an eye on this genre.
Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
people, please. let this die. it isn't a genre, it was the name of an EP that people on the internet took waaaaaaaaay too seriously.
140 jungle/dubstep hybrids have been around for time now.

Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
I personally hate future jungle, I don't really even like ragga-jungle, oldskool jungle is brilliant though, I would love to see people make some new oldskool.. god, some stuff just doesn't need to evolve...

What do you consider "future jungle" though? Cos it isn't a real thing.
Some of the 140 bpm jungle stuff that people like Cluekid have been making for years really captures the vibe of oldschool jungle. BPM doesn't mean that much really, they are jungle tunes. Would love to see Cluekid or Sully do some jungle tunes at ~160 bpm though, I see what you're saying.

was "future jungle" but if not then my apologies. If so... you could see where my hate for the alleged genre comes into play, its fucking weird ass poppy trash with chopped breaks underneath.

Yeah, that tune is gash. It seems to just be DJ Fresh calling it "future jungle" but the 140 bpm jungle style was around years before he hopped on the bandwagon. And it was never called future jungle.Moardekhi wrote:If youre talking to me, I was under the impression that this:jsml wrote:What do you consider "future jungle" though? Cos it isn't a real thing.

But seriously check out Cluekid & L.D.'s stuff if you haven't already. Really good jungle tunes at 140.

There's a taster for you mate. All big tunes.
Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
Ah, damn, those names bring back some memories. Should look up that Scamp cd I bought off of him years back for €5 when a friend of mine did some parties with the Life4Land crew. Fuck, can't wait till we put on our own first jungle night in the 2nd half of this year.Killawatt wrote:its kinda lame people on here seem to think jungle stopped when dnb evolved in 96/97. people have been producing it ever since it started but it was kinda pushed aside by dnb and garage. this '140 jungle' thing is bullshit imo. most of it is just a dubstep tune but with an amen (people seem to think anything wit an amen is jungle), reece and 808 bass. The production standards in most of it are awful aswell with people just sticking in a standard amen loop and it just sounds weak. Jungle developed out of essentially boredem of the standard 4X4 and breakbeats of the early nineties. the beats were scattier and destandardised and a lot of people couldnt cope with it so if you take that as the original inspiration for 'jungle' then you have to follow that root - it leads to ragga jungle and breakcore. these are good sites for the side of it that nobody into dnb or dubstep seems to know about:
https://www.outerbound.co.uk/
http://www.toolboxrecords.com/
and artists such as these: paulie walnuts, twinhooker, nkogliaz, vocoda, ez sniper, krinjah, ragga scum, baby demo, scamp, Dr.um, sixteenarmed jack and even Bizzy B is still true to his roots after all these years!
and crews like: jungle syndicate, Amen Tal, Satta Sounds, Sheffield Junglist Alliance
Anyone here happens to know what agency Baby Demo works with?

Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
Pfft, future jungle.
Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
That American "Ragga Jungle" scene is not really jungle if you ask me though, it's too fast, very "drum & bassy" and completely loses the vibe of early - mid 90s jungle tunes. Same with Jungle Syndicate and Amen-tal and all that breakcore.
Vocoda has done a few good 'uns that really do capture the vibe, and Breakage for sure as well as a few others (and probably more I haven't heard). But other than that, the 140 jungle productions are where it's at for jungle at the moment. Not the DJ Fresh stuff, but the good stuff that people like Cluekid, LD and LHF have been making.

Re: Future garage and now future jungle?!
It's not really jungle at 140bpm though is it? It's too slow to 'feel' like jungle for me at that tempo, even if the same breaks and samples are being used are the same. I can't dance to it the same way, it doesn't quite have the same groove. If I had to label it at all I would call it breakbeat and leave it at thatjsml wrote:That American "Ragga Jungle" scene is not really jungle if you ask me though, it's too fast, very "drum & bassy" and completely loses the vibe of early - mid 90s jungle tunes. He took a risk and it didn't work out. I love Jungle though so need to go through this thread and check out some of the names popped up of people still doing jungle 2000-present, i've got a few golden oldies and thats it.
