I think pretty much everyone expected that though, I know I did. He was just the lesser of the evils really. He rubs shoulders with the same people. Also as mentioned before, presidents don't have much power to make major changes alone. These days it's like a PR position, someone to blame. He got the ball rolling on some issues, but he comes off as a pussy who gives into compromise too easily rather than standing strong on issues.

voting for executive positions based on views makes no sense. to vote on legislative positions based on views makes sense... but executive is all about leadership capability. a lot of people wildly overestimate the president's effect.

what's scary is a guarantee that if a blind poll was taken on the streets of most us cities asking who their city's mayor was, then following up who is the mayor of the fictional town of quahog in family guy, or springfield in the simpsons, more would know the correct answer to the latter.
these are the same general populace who votes for who the media tells them to, or on completely non politically related issues, then bitch about it down the line.
