Only problem I have (which isn't much of a problem, really) is that she just raps over already made beats. There's only like two exceptions that I know of. It be way more entertaning to listen to if there were fresh tracks being backed by her vocals

I get what you mean, but it's funny she'd be singled out for doing this... it's pretty standard practise for a new MC to go in over loads of well-known beats before they get a full album deal or before they've got producers lining up to work with them. The thing that sets AB apart is that she's not picking the same old same old beats - it's not her going in on 6' 7', In Da Club, CREAM and Hail Mary, she's not even going to Just Blaze or Swizz Beats for another cookie-cutter instahit... she's turning creative instrumental dancefloor beats from people like Machinedrum and Lone and turning them into rap records.

The only thing she's doing wrong is not wearing my ring.

this post is redundant.

"I really like this new Danny Brown fella"

"pfff...all hype, gimme Nas all day..."

Why would you not listen to a very good rapper because they're not as good as an excellent one?

Unless you're saying there's only room in your mind for one female MC...then that is a different argument.

PLUS, Missy hasn't released an album in 7 years.

you're redundant

You chose the worst possible example, Danny Brown sounds nothing like Nas, Dizzee meets Busta maybe.

that was my point. I don't think Azealia Banks sounds that much like Missy. She is just (unfortunately?) also female.

:a: She is the closest female MC to Missy I have heard for a long time, her style is blates taken from Missy, hence her choice to MC over uptempo tracks.

Agreed completely. So she sounds a little like Missy, what's the problem? Missy doesn't release new music anymore, Azealia does, and its good shit. I don't get this attitude people have where if someone sounds even vaguely like another artist then they're just a pale imitation and not worth the time. Listen to an artist on their own merits, don't compare them to others. Azealia Banks has a crazy flow, great beat selection and an engaging personality. If you like you like, you don't you don't. What's to criticise?
