Use some logic, please. iTunes is the reason record shops are closing. Piracy has nothing to do with it.

Such a close minded attitude you have. Anything to justify you're condescending (and ill informed) high horse.

i think it says contributed rather than its the only reason, not sure how you'd qualify it having nothing to do with it

Because it has nothing to do with it. Piracy is a symptom of the trend. Before the MP3 people still copied and bootlegged CDs, tapes, etc.

Ok, sure. Unlike the vocal hipsters on this site that like to impose their ego on others, I actually researched the subject and can argue points other than "well its wrong, it's stealing, end of", and that is trolling? do you know what trolling is?

If I was taken to court and charged for downloading copyrighted material, you know what the charge would be called?
Not theft.
I don't even pirate music anymore. But the condescension of many of your attitudes towards anyone who thinks different reeks of ass, even more so when someone can actually make an argument through logos.

More so a fashion that values underground credibility more than anything, including rationality.

I didn't expect a much better counterargument, tbh.

But he's got some interesting points, eg: "Before the MP3 people still copied and bootlegged CDs, tapes, etc."
Thats at least worth discussing right?
EDIT: I had a small release and loads of people pirated it, I don't really care, I knew I wasn't going to make any money anyway and I make music so people can hear it

Obtain track or album for free through pirating >>>> As a result don't bother buying said track or album on CD/ Vinyl because you already have a digi copy.
= A contributing factor to the closure of record shops, as I said.

If you make the stupid, empirically false assumption that a pirate would've bought a track if he couldn't download it, consumer preference as it is today would make the chances of him buying a digital single (More pirated than albums) very likely, record store still sees no money.
But even that is pointless, because pirates wouldn't/couldn't have bought even a significant chunk of any pirated music had they not been able to pirate it.

yeah thats a totally new point never ever brought up before hes a genius
i think thats wrong too but it didnt have the same impact as it wasnt so widespread obviously
and its not about the money kochari its the principle, its not about the barons keeping their cash but about people being paid fairly
