That traktor controller looks like such a joke next to the decks. Can't believe people play out on those things.south3rn wrote:ron paul? idiot.underslung wrote:Heres some pictures of my setup that I was talking about earlier, a little ghetto but it works for the moment.
a traktor s4, laptop and legally purchased mp3s price out to well over a thousand dollars. That same amount of money could get you two decks and a mixer with money left over for records. But I agree looks like it would be fun at a house party.Clean wrote:When money is short, and you dont own a vinyl collection what else are you supposed to do? I dont think I would use a controller anywhere other than a house party
I have a large mp3 collection, and not really looking to duplicate the entire thing with vinyls right now. This provides a good way to play out all formats I have.Mr_Frost wrote:

That looks amazing man ^ jealous!grillis wrote:can politics please fuck right off of this thread
i'm with the 'play it if you've got it'.. friend of mine owns a rare edition of the jack sparrow lp on vinyl, almost one of a kind yet he still plays the tunes from time to time at my house. gotta be a good feeling
just found one of these, seems like a good way to display some artwork without having to permanently frame it, sits right above the deck for easy access

Look on ebay or somewhere dude, plenty available.rayman612 wrote:anyone know of a way to make your own 7" adapter?
i heard in europe 7's just come with a regular hole, i don't know if that's the case in UK
i can't go buy one because im in futtbuck central PA and i've been trying to make one out of cardboard but with no results
suggestions?
Hahaha, good point.rayman612 wrote:ive just been delaying doing that because i don't want to pay $5 shipping for a 1oz piece of plastic
no instructions?garethom wrote:Hahaha, good point.rayman612 wrote:ive just been delaying doing that because i don't want to pay $5 shipping for a 1oz piece of plastic
I bought one off Juno recently (I live in the UK), came in the henchest box ever (think like, a pizza box), it came, I was like "What the fuck is this?" open it, and there's a solitary 7" adapter in there.
Not if it is an amazing vinyl with great artwork and you have 2 copies of course.apmje wrote:Framing a record is just wrong!
been a while since i trotted out my ikea creation so here you go. great way to store records vertically, gets your decks up at a decent height so you don't hurt your back when mixing, has a laptop stand, looks sexy as fuck and all for just over £100PinUp wrote:What do you guys use to store your vinyl in? I've just started collecting and the crate i had has broken and my flight case is full, I was thinking about getting an old book case but my space is fairly limited as my decks are in a shed!

i got some off ebay and they were 99p each including shipping (UK obviously but I'm sure you can do similar for US). they aren't as good as the metal things you get with technics, which an old housemate very kindly nicked off me, but they do the job and for that price you can't complainrayman612 wrote:ive just been delaying doing that because i don't want to pay $5 shipping for a 1oz piece of plastic
not really. it's fairly easy (and better practise imo) to learn to mix using the pitch and not touching the record once it's on the platter. obviously you need to touch the sides to cue it up but once it's on their you don't need to touch the groovesJBoy wrote:You can always tell if a second hand record has been dj'd with in my opinion. Apparently touching them isnt healthy for the record but if you do dj then you have no other choice. Ive scratched some of my records just removing them from the sleeve in a hurry and i dont understand why most dubstep vinyl doesnt have a paper sleeve aswell as the cardboard one.
i don't think i've read a single post of yours that i've agreed withllennnn16 wrote:Of course i don't want anyone else to have my copy, i bought it because i want to have it. Appreciate the sound? you make it seem like because i don't play the vinyl i don't love the music. I heard Joe Nice play it live, and i play the clips of it online all the time, the anti-war refix too. When i get my rip of the track, ill be set. Again, i buy vinyl more as a collectors item than to play it. It's a piece of art just like painting. I would frame each one and hang it on the wall, but im just too lazy to do so and don't have enough wall space.
Your comment just reminded me of that scene from Toy's Story 2 were Woody is going off to storage for a museum, but then has a change of heart because he doesn't want to be behind a glass box, unplayed and unloved lol.
Dude, that's his collection of records from Eurovision contestants.Clean wrote:^^ Thats a work of art. BIg ups! Also very jealous of the collection you have got going
That is some nice vinyl storage right there, right under the decks ready for mixing nice.badger wrote:been a while since i trotted out my ikea creation so here you go. great way to store records vertically, gets your decks up at a decent height so you don't hurt your back when mixing, has a laptop stand, looks sexy as fuck and all for just over £100PinUp wrote:What do you guys use to store your vinyl in?
