Saw Grimes interviewed by Nardwuar,

she's fucking infuriatingly stupid, a massive pretentious hipster and annoying as fuck. She also has a horrible singing voice. She just pronouncing everything like she's retarded.

Glad so many people think she's shit and want her to die in a fire - must improve my chances of nailing her one day, albeit in a very very small way.

But can understand why many folks don't dig her stuff. Guess I've just always had a thing for talented female producers/musicians/singers who bring something new to the table. Bat For Lashes, Joanna Newsom, Emika, Lykke Li, Sia, Feist, Janelle Monae, Lana Del Rey etc...

Shaved head, not so much, but still would.
I never thought much of Christina Ricci, but I love Zooey's voice. She can really sing, and has good taste (subjective...).
Not into this Grimes girl, just sounds like shower singing. Not the worst thing out there by far, not something to do a double take in my opinion.

Del Rey has potential, but I prefer the Video Games song than most of her other stuff. That contralto style should be used more classically/operatically imo not with hip hop backing tracks.

Zooey is my number one. Dear god... :x :x :x :x

highly amused to have started a debate on homophobic slurs in a Grimes thread.

A few things, JBoy -
JBoy wrote:The thing is that homosexuality ceased to be taboo about ten years ago but lots of members of the gay community still love a fuss kicked up with anything remotely 'offensive'. No one cares anymore, people should just realise that.
This is absolute bullshit. First of all, I'm not a member of the "gay community" - I'm actually bi - and I'm not trying to kick up a fuss, I just take offense at words that refer in a derogatory manner to homosexuality being used as though homosexuality is something inherently negative. And people do, in fact, care, even if you don't.

Mr. Custard put it well -
meanmrcustard wrote:That is absolute bullshit. Perhaps to you, and the people you roll with, don't care about sexuality anymore, that doesn't for a second mean that it's no longer considered taboo. Homophobia is still everywhere, I have friends that have do deal with a lot of abuse just because of the way they are, and until being homosexual or straight is seen as being no different to having brown or black hair, there will always be an issue.

To suggest that it isn't seen as a taboo or that people don't care is part of the problem to be honest.
LGBT people do still face tons of prejudice and hate simply for who they are, and ignoring/contributing to the problem by using language that indicates an approval of those attitudes helps no one but the bigots.

JBoy wrote:^obviously they do, but they tend to care too much about a lot of things. Such as make up and skin moisturisation.

I really don't know what you get out of reinforcing stereotypes about the demographic you belong to. Self-loathing much?

Not all of us want to take it up the ass from bigoted assholes.
If this is the future, it seems highly livable: shiny, cool and comfortably dissonant. Like a low dose of ketamine in an empty, luminous airport hall in northern Japan, eating avocado and waiting for the universe to arrive.

To be fair I'm against the use of homophobic slurs as insults most of the time but on the other hand...

I do agree with this a lot

Man, it must've been annoying when the music law enforcers came and forced you to watch that video man.

If you don't like her, move on. Leave your comment, then start looking for music that you do like. :w:

I couldn't pass an opinion until I witnessed some of her shitty music first-hand.

First off, everything that came after this post made me lol heartily. Also, I was just seeing if faggotry would get past the filter. And it did. Hurrah!
