yeah that whole speech was cool.

i liked the part where that guy was all like “I PAID YOU ALL THAT MONEY” & Bane put his hand on the dudes shoulder & was like

“...That gives you power over me?”

“IM IN CHARGE HERE”

“...Do you feel in charge?”

 Only asking questions & STILL hardcore

Having avoided this thread for a few days for fear of spoilers I finally got to see it tonight so can contribute.

Im a huge fan of the Nolan take on the Batman world, I absolutely loved BB and TDK and have eagerly awaited this movie for so long however I came away from the movie feeling rather unfulfilled.

Christian Bale just didnt have the same presence he delivered previously, he wasnt lurking in the shadows like he usually does and didnt have the same menace. The film is called Batman yet I feel he was second, maybe even thirdplace in this film. He spent most of his time in vehicles which was a bit of a let down. And his whole rehabilitation after the broken back was nothing short of a miracle. WTF! Given the options I would have preferred if he had his back broken early on and spent most of the film in recovery rather than being back to strength after dangling from a rope and a few push ups and sit up. Yeah im sure it didnt happen over night but there was no sense of timing.

Although I liked Anne Hathaways performance I felt the love connection between Catwoman and Batman had little or no substance. The woman spent the whole film double crossing him and then we are expected to believe they elope together and lived happily ever after. (I only know that from the spoilers above). Anyway, enough said on that.

I think Tom Hardy is a very strong actor and played Bane very well, his voice (although quite misplaced) and demeanor was very fearsome but his delivery was nowhere near as captivating a villian as Heath Ledger was as The Joker. Then again thats a huge task so ill credit him on the merits of his own performance however I do feel all of what he built up was spoilt by his quick and sudden ending. Once he was shot he was quickly forgotten about.

I didnt feel any real sense of panic or danger in Gotham either, considering all the most dangerous of inmates of Arkham were released there wasnt much chaos, other than the head on battle with the police. Also the bomb thing was all a bit pointless IMO, the inmates going wild on the streets would have been much better end to Gotham that a bloody bomb.

My experience and opinion may have been marred however for the fact that people at the back of the cinema were talking and throwing shit throughout the whole film which means I was pretty distracted and could feel my anger rising. Literally at the beginning of the film a bottle came flying over, missing my pregnant girlfriend by inched and hitting my leg, leaving me wanting to leave my seat and fuck someone up.

Then the icing on the cake, just as the film was reaching its climax, Alfred is in the restaurant and looks up only for the screen to go blank and the siren and emergency announcer advising everyone to evacuate the building. We didnt know if it was a novel end to the film, Sopranos style, or if there really was an emergency...like a crazed gunman say. You could see the bewilderment and panic on peoples faces.

Anyways on leaving the cinema, completely confused as to what was going on I thought id end the experience my own way by going all Batman myself and confronting the 4 lads who were being stnuc the whole film by smacking one in the face.

Justice was served lol

ya'll seem to be forgetting that 5 months pass between Batman getting his back broken and his return to Gotham. Maniacs can't keep up a hype for 5 months on an island with no import or export get me?

banes death was meeeehhhh.
catwoman was fit...
police charge was fucking lame.

far too predictable..
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it,

because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

agreed, to be fair it was good just over hyped like everything is these days.

It was overhyped but I felt it lived up to it. The two issues I have are not fatal to the films delivery: the SWAT team would not have run past a crying 'hostage' (cat woman), they arrest everyone on scene for that specific reason that anyone could be a criminal. And banes extinguishment was just weak. Overall I enjoyed the film a lot.

I'm boycotting it for encouraging mothers to take their 6 year old daughters to midnight sessions
(and get shot dead)
bet it's nowhere near as enjoyable as Spidey...who's pretty charming for a pom.

Solid film in general.
Not as good as The Dark Knight.
Anne Hathaway wasnt annoying like i thought she might be.
IMAX was not worth it imo.

maybe a 7 out of 10

AYE :4:

thought it was really fucking good. only complaints are really that bane died a bit too quick and the "omg she was the villain" twist was more than cliche. and the broken back thing...
esfandyar wrote:second, letting batman die should have happened. not some auto pilot bullshit.
it's probably just me, but i think it's supposed to be an inception/shutter island style ending where it's open to interpretation. alfred said earlier that he had a FANTASY of looking up and seeing him. maybe batman did fix the autopilot but felt it was right to die?

likewise, i can't say i saw it coming, but it's such an overused trope and it's sort of shameful that nolan used it

Saw it last night.
It was alot better going in blind. I had watched one trailer before another film and I think one pic of production (turns out was the bane fight before the big reveal in the street) and nothing else.

I liked it, I will say they did a poor job explaining he had broken his back and how much time had passed "ill just pop that back in! oh look you can do push ups now!" I called it on the first jump that he needed to take the rope off aswell..

Someone said how weak the other woman seemed and yeah totally agree.
If you think back though they give you good hints (Makes Fox release the bomb instead of that dude getting shot, Tells Bane about the goverment infiltrating) thats shes bad but obviously that wont connect till after the reveal.

Also the cameos where really good with raz and scarecrow.

Yeah I noticed how he tugged on the rope and it seemed to come up short, obviously rigged to fuck with the prisoners mind so they think they can escape but they never can without the rope.

the writing portraying "this is what a revolution looks like" including every negative cliche of a world without the police is absolute shit. the slow cut scenes which show the police as some kinds of heroes right before the battle with bane's followers made my mouth taste like ashes.

im going to keep going.

fuck bringing robin's name into the mix, leaving the capitalist opportunity to do another series with robin
These were my main two problems with the film. I honestly agreed with 90% of Bane's politics.
