i buy vinyl just cus i like a spinning record when i mix, also it just makes the whole process of buying music more fun. the standard cliches basically

this doesn't even make sense.. we're not talking about listening to iphone speakers or a massive rig are we, its the format.. so its more like do you prefer to watch a clean digital mp4 file on a nice screen, or a roll of film with cuts and dots on a shitty wall with holes in it

As someone who has extensive vinyl, digital, CD and cassette collections, why do vinyl heads always go on about having to go through thousands of shit mp3 files in the future or whatever? DON'T DOWNLOAD SHIT, THROWAWAY TUNES IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Be as selective with digital as you would any format, and you won't have to deal with that problem.

There used to be plenty of throwaway tunes on wax as well, hell that's why I like digital like I said, no more being forced to pay for 1 decent tune buried in mediocre and wank flips.

I love the convenience of digital, but I hate they way it's allowed any old tnuc to get their music out there (obviously works both ways; but generally the wrong one), have to go through so much total shit to find something decent on most sites. The large up front investment of pressing a vinyl release was/is a pretty good QC.

I almost never mix vinyl now, but I do often put a record on and listen to it. It's a far superior experience. Dunno why, just is.

I can definitely put up with that trade off. Music that I genuinely LOVE that got self-released in digital only is more than worth occasionally trawling through shit on download sites.

Being able to download individual files I think is damaging the art of that album at times also.

If it was damaging they wouldn't hype certain singles to sell an album, some people just want those singles.
People need to learn the old business models are dated and come up with new ones.

"The album format" is overrated anyway. They're very rarely consistently good from beginning to end. They're remnants of the rock era. For most of the history of recorded music, singles were the norm. It was primarily rock music that was all about albums. Probably because record companies could make more money off of them.

More EPs. Then bands also wouldn't feel forced to fill half an album with filler just to make up for lost space.
