I agree, although you can usually get a few good things from it.. often the nominated foreign films or something like Nebraska that was nominated this year. Documentary films are sometimes worth a little look.

Good, but didn't have the cultural impact that Drive did.
Reading your first post was the first time I've heard of this film.

drive didnt hit me.. seemed even a bit pointless i just didnt get it.
really struggling to think of anything better tho.. i usually like shite movies lol but all of the usual hyped ones like looper, drive, there will be blood, no country for old men, prometheus etc just feel a bit "meh" for me. i actually literally fell asleep during inception
dunno, i really like inglorious bastards. would list django as well but it came out in 2012 iirc
dont give me that shit about tarantino being overrated or how he just recycles stuff from other movies idgaf i'm not a tarantino fanboy or anything the two forementioned just are really really good movies with exceptionally good re-watching value

Why does everyone compare any space movie to 2001? Moon and Gravity are nothing like 2001.
The only movie mentioned in here so far that has direct comparisons to 2001 is There Will Be Blood.
segue into: I think There Will Be Blood is one of the better movies of the last several decades tbh.
I've watched Drive several times now, and I've never really connected with it. I do appreciate the movie. I feel almost no emotional reaction from the movie though, it just feels like very well done action movie. I think the over-the-top gore in the later parts of the movie kinda kills the mood for me personally too. I know its intentional contrast to the overall aesthetic, but it just removed me from the film instantly.

Drive
Valhalla Rising
I'm a Refn fanboy and I love Gosling (although Half Nelson is his best) and Mads (he is the perfect Hannibal and so good in Valhalla)
Bronson was gold as well
Only God Forgives was an attempt at something too ambitious, but enjoyable

^^ Cause no one really cares about it tbh, to the point where everyone ignores it. It was a bit slow and boring at points, but I guess it was a good movie overall.

I actually live in Oakland, where the A's are based, and I dont care about Moneyball at all.
movies about sport fly way under my radar.
(I love Hoosiers though, only because it reminds me of being bored watching it with my Dad when I was young b2b Gene Hackman)
