In all seriousness, I don't think dubstep was ruined. It has evolved and I like most of it. Sure I can't call it 'dubstep dubstep' but its music made by great dubstep producers with dubstep tendencies, which I love. So, it all works out. Some might not like it but theres no use in wasting your time trashing it. If you don't like it, NEXT! I bet that will save some people tons of time and effort.

Maybe it was nancy garage with its slinky seductive 2-step rhythms which ruined dubstep.bassbeyondreason wrote:Seriously though, I'd say it was the influx of poofter garage fans making gash tunes full of gay Artful Dodger drums and shit. Ruined the proud, virile, hetrosexual dubstep tradition with their gay feminine ways.
HARD MUSIC FOR HARD BOYS.
Todd Edwards, Steve Gurley, Groove Chronicles - you're on the list
I actually know people who think like that
Re: Who is personally responsible for ruining dubstep?
For a start, Cyrus - Indian Stomp was also used in Children Of Men..And all the tunes used in that film really suited it..Badga Tek wrote:Ok, I think absolutely everyone on the forum is agreed that dubstep has been ruined. What we now need to do is work out who's responsible. Justice must be served. Retribution must be swift.
Some people have said it must be Rusko, Caspa or Skream. I'm not so sure. I think the ruination of dubstep has been caused by the more general trend of artists selling out.
Burial on BBC4?
Benga promoting a programme on Princess Diana?
Its absolutely disgusting.
But who's responsible? I believe the first real sell outs were those who allowed their music to be used on the soundtrack of a major Hollywood film - Children of Men. Mala, Kode9 and Pinch - you've ruined dubstep. Justice will be mercilessly meted out. Your fate a grisly end.
Please does anyone else have any more (totally irrational) theories on who can be personally held responsible (scapegoated) for ruining dubstep?
This is a underground music scene, which means its going to go 2 ways.. up or down, mainstream or 6 feet under.
I'd rather be part of a scene from the beginning and seeing it get massive, into films and media then hearing it on some wank phone on the bus like Grime... The fact Dubsteps been taken seriously by the media and film industry is a good thing, it means the music is suited for purposes other than to 'brock out' to. Before you go and say shit is dying, think evolution - they'll always be a underground of die hard people who just love the beats, bass and energy but theres always room for media and TV I think. Kode9, Benga, Skream, Pinch, Cyrus... are all talented producers 'nd I say hats off to them, not cause of the money but the fact they've been taken seriously by people who are very hard to impress.
If anything has ruined dubstep its not the producers its stnuc who do stuff like this and try and give producers egos even though they don't have one, the scene is ruining the scene not the people on top...If you was a true fan and follower you'd realise that.. numb nuts.

There needs to be some sort of sign that tells people whether a thread is sarcastic or not. Perhaps [\sarcasm] at the end of each post?badger wrote:sarcasm seems utterly lost on this forum
Pretty tragic that there are so many people that take this shit so goddamn seriously though.

Or just not post pathetic threads like this - spesh when its always not funny and pretty much just makes a repeat of every other thread, just the people who don't read 'Dubstep' get to test there witts while they're bored at work..kins83 wrote:There needs to be some sort of sign that tells people whether a thread is sarcastic or not.
