Police plan to pen people indefinitely this eve. Slipped out with press card but otherwise it'll be a long wait for anyone inside #g20
A lull, again, but it is late now and people want to go home. Every exit line is a wall of riot police. #g20
I reckon that if they dont get home for their lentil soup soon its gonna kick off big time...

well!

that was one of the most interesting, volatile and surreal experiences i've ever had.

Mostly peaceful.

Some BRUTAL policing. Needed in some cases but way too heavy handed in others.

Coming wading in when your van is about to be overturned...fair enough

When some woman, who had fallen over as a result of a police charge, gets dragged up by the scruff of her neck and booted in the back...not on.

pictures to follw soon

yeah there was some fucking outrageous stuff on the news, women getting battered around the head with truncheons is not on...but then 'policemen are bastards' isn't really news is it :?

a combination of quick feet, pre emptin where the polis would rush and my uni press card (which doesnt really stand for anything but got me through at least one barrier).

These protests are always ruined by a few tossers who use them as an excuse for mindless vandalism and aggression, and then the police overreact and it's a fucking mess.

So it's ok to vandalise properties and intimidate innocent people because you're 'angry'?

I can't agree, it's just childish and stupid and never going to acheive anythng other than inciting the police.

So, those working in the city aren't innocent just becase they work for a financial institution? What a load of bollocks.

if you work for those who are stealing massive amount of people, humiliating them, stealing their liberties you're getting it sooner or later in a normal world
the city has nothing to do here, i don't know what's up with that

let's see what kind of world is this

Who exactly is 'stealing massive amount of people'?

I don't think any rational human could say that anyone deserves to 'get it' for working for a bank. It's a ludicrous thing to say.

hmmm, i cant agree with smashing buildings up.

However, the police were brutal from the get go and with some reason.

when they were about to tip over the police van and the coppers came charging in their was nothing else the police could do.

But when they wanted to stop everyone from seeing someone arrested behind a van, charged and knocked a woman over then picked her up by the scruff of the neck and booted her away, it was sickening,

When they were just charging at lines of people trying to clear space, again ,thats fair enough, but when they're swinging battons in order to do that, insane grins on their face, its not on.

It works both ways, their will always be some rockets who only want to be their to start trouble, the same as their will always be police that hope they turn up.

Yeah, it does sound like the police were heavy handed, but I can't think that people who were intending to have a peaceful protest find themselves smashing up an RBS and HSBC office - perhaps people that were waiting for a half decent excuse to kick off, maybe.

Still, it seems like the bad seeds on both sides were in the minority... let's hope the peace lasts over night. A mate just sent me a pic from the climate camp - looks like a fun night (probably filled with a bunch of sad acts like me playing acoustic Dylan songs!)
