Sorry to bring back an old thread but its not for more hating its to swallow my silly little words as since posting this many moons ago i have actually found some sick uk funky and will also now actively look for more.
Theres still an awful amount of cheesey shite which was what first brought the genre to my attention so you cant blame me for that, but as a listener of dubstep i havent had much choice than to slowly be introduced to more funky crossover tunes which are actually really sick. Not going to be naming names as theres too many and i've got a memory like a fairground goldfish but yous know what i'm talking about.
Just thought I'd take the time out to willingly retract my statement before enjoying some more bangers and maybe having a little dabble in making a few myself.

only digging the Cooly G deep track, and of cuz the Funkadelic and Hendrix.
ohhh... and these side genres.... fidget/funky/uk funky/8bar/4x4/bassline etc etc etc
1. arrangement
2. timing
3. bpm
4. kit/sounds
just mix around from different existing genres and instant new genre.
People gonna argue, but think about it a minute. It's just that simple. Cigar is just a cigar.

I just dont like music with a beat that's that '4/4' if you know what I mean.
dom dom dom dom
I'm sure I could put if with some of it if I was hammered, but I can't see myself sober sticking some house on and enjoying it. Unless there's some secret sub genre that isn't dom dom dom dom

fair enough, does that mean you dont like dubstep with a 4/4 beat either?
also, what kinda dubstep is it you enjoy? (not to slate, but to try and find house that you'd appreciate that is similar)

No worries lol, I like pretty much all dubstep, but I do shy away from the 4/4 (beat on every beat) dubstep....
Most the dubstep i listen to comes from peeps like; 16bit, bar 9, trolley, flux p, stenchman, the others...... stuff like that..
Just to be clear, I know dubstep generally is 4/4, but what referring to is a kick on every beat in a bar, which is what I (thought) all house music had.

oh yeah yeah i knew what you meant d/w, its always too much effort to type 4 to teh floor or a bass drum on every beat or whatever, i always write 4/4 then hope people understand me lol.

Apple - De Siegalizer is one of the few songs I like, and it's based on the melody, i fuckin hate the drum patterns in uk funky tracks, so repetitive and boring, It sounds so empty on regular speakers, gotta have a heavy sound system to even waste your time listenin to it....

all of that is good. and different "style/genre" makes a difference with dancing. But for me, what seperates what I like and don't like is... composition, melody, rhythm, key, and harmony.
