How are we comparing the two countries? Which produces / produced the best music? Impossible to say. UK produced bands like the Beatles and Pink Floyd. America produced Hendrix and The Doors. None is better than the other.
Fuck that, we produced Brokencyde. The WORLD owes us.
Who?

What a massively ignorant comment, define urban music.
Uh, let's see, all the popular Western styles of music which came as the result of the original blues musicians...including early RnB/Soul and Funk which pretty much led to everything else...
Don't forget house!
or garage... or techno...

They gave the world jazz, soul, house, techno, hip hop and rock & roll.
We gave the world jungle, dubstep, ale, Shakespeare, cheddar and the USA.
It's a difficult call.

Well, technically you didn't
give the world the USA: we stole ourselves from you and then gave it to the world, slutty slutty nation that we are. Y'all got pwned by a bunch of podunk rebels.
Also, while Jungle was definitely a homegrown UK invention, much of its musical DNA [breakbeat, techno, hip hop, etc.] came from the USA (minus the Jamaican elements: however, Jamaican music was, in turn, influenced more by American music like R&B than almost anything else besides its African roots due to their proximity to our shores and ability to tune in our radio broadcasts back inna day...)
Finally, while the word "ale" is definitely English in origin, the style of brewing predates the creation of the modern British nation by a long shot - it was already around in the middle ages when Britain was just several petty fiefdoms constantly fighting each other and half of 'em spoke French or Gaelic. In fact, the first beer ever brewed would probably qualify as an ale. AND - Belgians make better ales than you lot.
I will grant you cheddar though.
And I was going to credit you guys with giving us Kelly LeBrock in the eighties, but can't even do that - she was born in NYC.
