You are right. This is a thread for new people and they do need to know about search.
To the nubs : please search for your answers before asking a question. If that doesn't work, then proceed to 2nd base.

but I figure many people on here, newbies or not, visit another 1-3 message forums, all of which have search functions
personally I find that most search engines in forums don't do a good job of filtering out the extra unwanted results. Dforums could be better, but it definitely aint the worst.
