I'm not saying it's massively different just other than it's good instruments what benefits are there for changing, is there sidechaining in fl? I mean it's a great package to start out on and producers like skream use it. Does fl have it's own equivalent to the vocoder and looper? I'm gonna stick with ableton as i'm going to purchase an apc20 soon and having to remap every control for fl is a huge pain. At the end of the day if the daw can mix and sequence then thats all you really need as effects you can get with vsts same with instruments.

Yes fruity has a vocoder. Yes fruity has sidechaining. Dont know what 'looper' does but Im assuming fruity loops has an equivelent haha. Not trying to tell you to change, just telling you that YES, ALL DAWS ARE IN FACT THE SAME.

Haha yes, I guess the difference is in the mixing, and ease of use between daws as well as the included instruments, but most support vsts so unless you've got reason your okay, although reason does have some nice synths

Many synths have been mentioned, but not all popular synths can be considered heavyweight imo. Read the first post again for an idea of what features heavyweight synths include.

think i'm gonna buy blue or z3ta+ can anone who has used them give me their opinion, plus ive heard blue has a few dubstep and dnb patches, obvoisly im gonna make my own sounds just wanna know if they sound good

I liked the sounds I got out of Blue, but for now I am sticking to the free ones while I really continue to learn more about sound synthesis (and until I finally choose what monitors I want to buy )

I personally find Blue easier to use than Z3ta. Also Z3ta only allows limited monophonic operation, which is next to useless for bass patches that need to retrigger before the last note has finished playing.

Z3ta does have a nice set of filters and the waveshaper obviously rocks!

I'd buy Surge, Massive or Circle, as they are all easier to use and more flexible than Z3ta.

Definitely. Surge is my go-to, it's just so damn easy to patch up in a snap. Looks horrid at first, but once it clicks you can get from 0-60 in a few clicks.

And again, for just under 70$ i'd probably snag Circle.

They don't sell massive anymore only as part of komplete, so we've knocked out those two so it's fm8, es2 although fm8 is just a fm synth whereas blue combines both and i dont know much about circle, so blue, circle or fm8? or es2

FM8, has a nice multimode filter, in operator Z. When trying FM8 make sure you got it in the high resolution mode, it really does make a difference. With it off you get all this nasty aliasing, and every thing has this buzz harsh sound to it (some times you may won't this).

But IMO;

Reaktor > Massive > Z3ta+ > FM8 > Circle > Blue

You should just try them, and find what works for you, they are all good btw.

Don't man, since I started rewiring reason into ableton I've tried a hell of a lot of other synths and in the end I've gone back to just using the reason stock and ableton stock ones, they dick on everything else I've tried tbh. Except alchemy, that's badboy :p few effects plugins are good too but your not missing too much using reason, especially not with synths and scream 4 is the most badass distortion I've been able to find.

For synthesis reason is def a heavyweight. Hakka your tunes are beastly homie
