Agreed. Its one of those films thats interesting because its based on a true story.. the photos at the end were probably the most interesting bit.

Seven Psychopaths was awesome but I did watch it at like 4am so didn't concentrate fully, need to rewatch it at a decent time.

John Dies At The End - very, very weird. It was good, funny at parts.. but very weird and random. Loads of people saying you have to read the novel first, I didn't even know there was a novel until after I watched it so I may read that and rewatch it, people who have read it seem to rate it very highly.

After reading the novel, I gave Cruising by William Friedkin a shot. Though it provided some complementary graphic visual content to the book, especially the pre-aids gay scene in the NY clubs, I think overall Friedkin's portrayal was rather shallow and bland compared to the novel, refusing to make statements (on racism or the main characters sexuality or traumatic background) or 'pick sides' on the larger themes. Clearly, some of the content was adjusted/left aside to cater to a wider cinema audience. Not in the same league as The French Connection or To Live and Die in L.A. or Bug.

Also rewatched Take Shelter (had already seen it when it came out) but this time with my mum can you believe it. I told her beforehand I didn't like the ending much. She was downright angered by the dubious ending though. The ending didn't bother me as much this time. I found it less enjoyable overall though then after the first watch.

Jack Reacher.
My mum has been nagging me to take her to the cinema for ages, this was the only film on at an appropriate time, it's shit.

Watched Fargo last night, not really sure how I feel about it.

I get this feeling whenever I watch a Coen brothers film though and they normally grow on me.

Easily one of the best films from 2012 that I've seen.


So much more enjoyable without Tobey MacGuire.


Spat drink across the room at the "your wife's tnuc..." line, otherwise was more rom-com than anything else. Flash Gordon sections were jokes though.


Turkish film noir, recommended.

I thought looper was pretty shit tbh, could have been great but just lots of re-hashed sci fi ideas with a shit load of nonsense.

Why not just send them back into the furnace so no triggerman needed?

Every time travel sci-fi film has a plot hole in it somewhere, par for the course. Just the overall bleakness of this particular vision was what appealed.

I wasn't a big fan of it, I think it was ruined by the fact they clearly tried very hard to make it more confusing than it needed to. It felt like they were trying to get the same hype and confusion as Inception without it being as confusing as Inception.. came across really forced. I'd probably watch it again though.


Killing Them Softly - easy watching, funny, some strong characters. The opening scene was really good, which is rare.. I'm never usually gripped by the intro due to my piss poor attention span.. some of the scenes were really well done as well, the slow-mo shooting scene and the conversation while on smack to name two. All round good film.

Not bad, I only went along because my gf loves it.
I couldnt stand Helen whatever her name is and Ali G, easily the worst parts of them film but my gf tells me they are in the stage show aswell..

Only other thing was at a few points they litrally sang normal conversations "I recognise you" "Oh you must be mistaken" type thing but at other points would break song and speak normally

I liked looper so much that I went back and rewatched brick and the brothers bloom

Saw this the other week, beautifully shot, nice pace, subtle humor but the ambiguous (I can't really remember the plot details tbh #lean) ending was annoying, would be nice to see a slow foreign film with a distinct end once in a while.

Just watched Skyfall which I thought was good. Also watched Blitz with Jason Statham which was a bit shit.

Django Unchained - Fantastic film, the dialogue is incredible. Christoph Waltz puts in another top performance and his relationship with Django is really good. I found some parts, mainly the shooting scenes, a bit like a parody.. they reminded me of the fight scenes in Machete.

Yeah, they were a bit over the top (a big bit), but the rest of the movie is obviously solid enough thats what lets him get away with stuff like that sometimes, lol.

I did the opposite, re-watched brick and brothers bloom (which are both superb) then watched Looper, was ok until the ending then it reallllllly pissed me off *SPOILERS* Like so what if he shot himself? In his timeline that woman had already been shot so it didn't matter if he killed himself then and there as the event had already happened and her body had already been damaged.
