There are outlying communities/thug communities where you can get a condo for like $400k. I've got some friends that found a condo they could afford, 400, 500 something like that, they offered to put 20% down and they lost the place to an all cash buyer. As I understand it, these cash buyers are just shutting everyone else out. That is southbay/san jose and surrounding communities.
Was just reading about a UN rep suggesting relocating people out of California because of the inability to sustain the current population with available water (there are sections of the central valley that have dropped 20feet from the collapse of underground aquifers).
Personally, I'd find a place in the southern hemisphere if I were relocating.
Late reply, but here it goes.
FUCKING AMAZON INVADING SEATTLE!!!! 10,000 new jobs for a bunch of assholes who make way more money then they deserive too buying up homes sight unseen. Want to talk about a fucked up market, thats it. Im digging this city (not as much as home, but its coo) and trying to buy a house here has been a fucked up and VERY long process. The way things are going, this place might be the next SF/silicon valley. Shits scary.
California is WAY populated beyond its means. Its self sustaining up to a point; but it reached that point about 5 million people ago. Global warming is only fucking that place worse.

Your on PC right? Couple thing you can try. Vimo might be able to auto convert. You can also try bouncing it to mpeg/jpeg. Or using a program like smart converter.
Theres is a (Free) web converter ive used in the past to transfer videos between my wife and i in the past, but i cant remember what the hell its called. It does cross platform x-fer without a problem. Her work computer is pc and im mac and everything ive ever converted has worked fine. Now, if i can just remember what the hell its called.

ill get back to you on that. Hopefully.
The file conversion isn't the issue, it's actually getting the files onto the iPad that baffles me. For PDFs I have to Dropbox them to myself, but doing that for a video file would take too long.

Seattle has been like that since the mid 90's. When I first moved there back then there were literally lines of people out the door at every place for rent. Coincidentally, I worked at a very young Amazon during the first internet boom. I built my studio using stock options from Amazon before the bubble burst.
At that time I worked at Symantec, and I was dialed into the Indian insider info network. I knew quarterlies for everybody before they were released. For some reason I never acted on the info. I did keep track of what I could have made with seed money I had on hand, and all this insider info, it was redic. I should have. Could have bought a couple houses out in the valley, then caught the housing bubble and could have then turned that into a couple million, easily.
Just never was into investing. Such a profound mistake.
I didn't know shit about stocks or the market. An older friend of mine advised me to dump my remaining stock options because he knew the internet startup market was going to collapse. It did a few months later.
I got enough from that last round to pay off my taxes from the previous rounds and then had enough left over to buy two Technics 1200 M3D turntables and a Rane mixer. I still have the turntables, newer Rane mixer though.
Twisted Electrons has released their newest synthesizer, the TherapSid.
Based on the SID (Sound Interface Design) chip and named for the fearsome long-toothed Therapsid dinosaur, the TherapSid is an “aggressive” synth intended “to create roaring noises that will cut through your mix like razor-sharp claws through a mammoth steak.”
TherapSid Features:
Compatible with all SIDS
3 Oscillators, 4 waveforms per oscillator
Multimode Filter
35 Knobs, 31 Buttons
SID pcb isolated from main pcb (less noise)
Switched audio input for running signals through the filter
100 Presets
3 LFOs: 4 waveforms, 12 target knobs
16 Step Modulator: sequence up to 20 knob positions, per step in a snap! Also modulate Ring Mod, Sync and Waveform for all voices.
Pedal Glide: enable/disable glide with the sustain pedal
Compatible with free iPad app (pending app store approval)
Fully MIDI automated (see midi spec. chart in manual)
Saw this. Looks pretty rad. Though to be honest I'm still really stoked on the new Electribes. That would get me totally out of the box if the new electribe sampler is the end of my chain. Its got 16 tracks so I'm hoping you can use any of those to sequence external gear, but really that kind of seems like a waste of all the new sampler seems to have to offer. They also run on batteries wub!

The "Lag Time" knob looks like loads of fun...go from flange to chorus to slap back to echo with a turn of a knob? Awe. Some. I could actually don't even give a hoot about the Saturation side (though I'm sure it'll sound great coming from Strymon)...but between the Lag Time and Wobble knobs...so much sonic fuckery to be had in hardware land (not to mention setting up that kind of automation in your DAW would probably stretch the limits of most people's minds and system resources...maybe I'm talking out my hardware loving ass here?...maybe could do it with Reaktor...)
Anyway...forget their El Capistan (as cool as it is) I think I would rather have this : )

Alright so my student loan has come through and I am looking to invest in some gear. Looking for anything that's gonna provide me with a bit of fun and inspire me to create. Anything any of you guys have that you would reccomend?
