I had to go to Belgium to learn that. The education system in the South West was fucking gash... they just kept trying to teach me Pythagoras.

I can't actually roll to save my life, if I'm honest.

I'm, er, I'm pretty good at chucking a pill about 6 metres into the air and cathing it in my mouth, though.

I fear i may regret this, but who are they, what do they do and how have they pissed you off?
APPG's are like student societies at uni, if you're an MP you can join and do shit about whatever shit you're interested in, from aviation to zoologicial sciences.

The one I've been working with recently, Transport Safety, does exactly what it says on the tin.

The problem I have is that THEY DON'T FUCKING LISTEN TO ME WHEN I ASK THEM TO PUT FUCKING LASER PENS AND EBAY INTO THEIR AGENDA FOR THEIR MEETINGS SO WHEN I TAKE THE FUCKING TRAIN TO GO TO THEIR FUCKING MEETING THEY DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO ADDRESS WHAT THE FUCK I WANT THEM TO THUS WASTING TWO AND A HALF FUCKING HOURS OF MY LIFE.

From a press release I sent out last week:

Lasers shone into cockpits can cause much more than just distraction and startle; it can cause glare which makes it difficult to see out of windscreens and diminish night-vision as well alongside night-vision being compromised. Much more seriously flash-blindness and permanent eye damage can occur.

To date over 300 incidents of laser attacks against aircraft in flight have been reported to the Civil Aviation Authority. Locating persons responsible is extremely difficult.

Pointing a 5 mW laser pointer (that can be purchased for as little as $10 from Ebay) in a cockpit can easily cause glare and distract pilots up to 3700ft away. Exposure of 5mW lasers for 10 seconds can cause permanent eye damage.

Retina is most sensitive to green light therefore green lasers most dangerous.

[my union] argues that the sale of laser devices should be highly regulated and for a license to be required for individuals to own and possess laser pointers.

In 2007 the Australian government passed legislation that could result in fines of up to A$5,500 for "people who irresponsibly direct laser devices at planes".
Basically some numpties on Ebay are selling quite strong laser pens.

Which other numpties in Birmingham and Aberdeen are buying and shining them into planes landing at airports in the area.

Pilot landing carrying 300 passengers gets distracted and plows into terminal building = major shit.

Oh yeah, heard about this sort of thing on the news the other day. Apparently the Police now have sensors on their helicopters that can help to pinpoint the source of a 'laser pen attack'. But yeah I'd say concerns around that are valid...

It amazes me people get a kick out of that sort of thing. It's like the morons who find lobbing bricks off motorway bridges entertaining.

So what, you're arguing that these should be unavailable in the UK from ebay or any other store? There doesn't seem to be any legitimate reason for their existence really...

Well we're trying to get them pulled off Ebay, get a mandatory custodial sentence for people caught doing it and mandatory licensing for people to have them for legitimate reasons.

But trying to get the government to do anything (other than fill their pockets) is like trying to get Mala to stop making killer tunes...impossible!

Nice one. So what's the deal then? Do you really feel strongly about it or are you just using it for experience/ a foot in the door....

1. from the kindness of my heart I waited for an hour to give some bint off my course my notes for her to copy up before the exam.... did she arrive... no.

2. Virus from a mates computer - the following scan to 4 hours.

3. Someone drinking all my milk - to tackle this issue i am seriously contemplating investing in some industrial laxatives to lace a rogue bottle of milk with and wait to see if I can catch the culprit.

Im going to be in a one on one exam with a lecturer, in a subject I literally know nothing about in 12 hours.

Unless I can learn...everything about medical diagnosis (except for blood testing) before then.

*Inserts picture I dont have time to draw in paint of me being raped by a medical rod of knowledge*
