Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@ lordbird. Not a fan of the intro, was a bit boring with those bass slides. Other drop is pretty cool though!!! Some better hats maybe in the drums, sounds too tinny.
@ jakedubber. Ideas are there. Sounds reallllll muddy. That snare, sounds like its distorting like a mofo, and just crackling in my headfones.
@ charliefoy. Intro is nice man, nice vibe to it, real chilled vibe. Nice kick, maybe a little too subby? Liking the bass that's for sure!!
Something I started last night. Pretty relaxing tune. With a few vocal samples I found.

@ sigmund floyd. Nice tune, nice progression & synth work!! Got a little repetetive, but still sounds good!
Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
Sorry, totally forgot the feedback:
@bradicle: I like the atmosphere your tune creates, but I just cannot make friends with the chordprogression, to me it sounds really uncomfortable.
@sigmund floyd: 1st one -> I absolutely do not like the string-like synths and the whole harmony of the tune feels uncomfortable (in a bad way, not in a "the tune works so good that it creates this particular feeling") and for me its TOO loopbased, so that the drums get boring pretty fast. 2nd one -> Also very loopy and a bit boring, sounds like someone trying to make a hiphopbeat by throwing random loops from magix music maker together.
@UnitedFruits (beneath my post): Has a nice feeling, though I cannot feel the drums entirely. But I like the mix of dub and synthsounds.
Hi, this is my 2nd try at Dubstep. Most certainly its not even barely finished. (somehow my first reply didnt get posted)
Soundcloud
Any suggestions so far? (except adding a bass and editing the drums)

@bradicle - Mind explaining in a little more detail what your critique actually means rather than saying boring and I didn't like this/that? as far as your tune goes:
pretty epic! I like the whisperer vocal sample but it seems like it needs so equing or something to cut through the mix a little better at some points in the tune. I think your offbeat hat is a little loud, it kind of pierces my ears atm. Otherwise I think its very well done and I love all the synths ya got going on in there. I think the kick roll on the first drop doesn't have enough impact it needs to increase in volume or filter up or something to help the drop out because it lacks impact as it is right now. I think on that drop the main synth could even stop for a second because one thing this song lacks is breathing room.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
I hate the fact that some people(like me) take 30 mins of their time to listen to tracks of 10 people write feedback for all of them, and no one gives back fucking feedback...this is bullshit
Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
yo ill listen to your track when I get out of class in an hour here, I hate that feeling so ill make it right for ya.
Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
Soz bro, I was in a mad fkn rush last night. Didn't mean to come off as a cock.
@lordbird. Just the intro seems a little longish hence me saying boring. Mean sample, bass is sounding tight. Cool little atmospheres. Sounds like it needs something floating in the backround to make it sound a little bit more full. Like someone else said, maybe another one of those robotic sounds somewhere in there. The riser is really cool. Maybe few more hats, they sound kind of plain. Apart from that, keen to hear more once you've done.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@bradicle - don't worry about it man I don't think you came off as a dick. I am always interested in a good critique, especially from people that aren't digging it so much. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ill keep them in mind intro is already 16 bars shorter now so that was one thing i fixed that people brought up.
@NRHc - I think your sweep at the drop sounded a little rushed I think it needs to come in slower maybe some kind of build in the drums or something to help it out or a shift in that pad's melody, not enough tension yet. Once again not enough variation in the drums to keep it interesting, that loop playing over and over gets a little stale. Having single speed wobbles playing for so long does not really help whatever melody your going for, sustained wobbles get kind of stale after a while of continuous play. Your probably one of the only people who I would say that the midrange could probably go up a little bit in the mix. But yea add some variation and some stops and syncopation to get your groove on as this tune is kind of droning and static at the moment.

@LordBid: Thanks for all the feedback man, taking it all into consideration. Loving the vocal sample at the beginning of your track, and the lo-fi drum sounds...
@Bradicle: Sick drop... Thinking the lead synth could use some beefing up tho, sounds a bit straight out the box... Nice track in all tho...
@Nrhc: Can't put my finger on what's missing, but something. About that midrange synth, don't think it fits. Liking the drums alot though...
Here's a track I'm making with DJ Dobey. Have no idea what genre it'd be. It's running at 180 bpm now. I'd be interested as to everyone's opinion regarding that.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@sigmund floyd: nice rolling tune, sounds "curious" lol, id remove the flute that keeps repeating or change it a bit.
@NICORISONE: 0.40 onwards is beast, nice sounding lead and nice sounding bass too this tune has got alot of potential.
@Grime Syndicate: phat intro love your style fucken slick 0.50 onwards is beast, imo id keep that phat bit rolling a bit more instead of ending at 1.05 maybe end it at 1.15 although not digging the remainder of the tune as much as i did 0.50 to 1.05 but still slick probably just preference
keep it up brother. (sinalogical)
@gonzodj: not my type of music but its very chilling and has nice percussion
@Grime Syndicate: sounding catchy not digging the intro though but liking the main. (boon)
@Astral: loving this intro. liking the way you've got the synths working together in this one, really keeps me interested. big ups!
@tek_selecta: sounds like evil zombie music haha, liking the bass on this one, a bit repetitive but thats probably just preference.
@weedcali: FUCKEN EPIC track bro i love this tune it sounds so right, epic memorable intro nice synth work, the bells are so calming make the epicness even more epic imo, the fx used the flicks and shit ahhh... followed on SC big ups from NZ brother. (juiced demo) finish it!
@lordbid: already said i liked sacrifice but i listen to it now and i still like it, which is good ha
just gets a bit off track semi 1.50 onwards but bulk of it is epic.
@bradicle: i love you sigs tune, nice real memorable i can imagine it having rap in it ha.
@nhrc: its not my sort of music maybe a bit too repetitive but you could put that down to preference probably aswell.
@UnitedFruits: retro reggae? haha sounds algood i can imagine it being on a bill cosby shows intro LOL.
@Pete Miles: filthy as a mofo right? sounds intense, i like it nice percussion and synth work imo gets better 2.20 onwards liking how the synths fit with each other nicely.
@jakedubber: i like this its chilling, still not my sorta tune though.. maybe add some perc?
@tripwire22: what can i say, tidy and clean as usual, you should make some harder music i think you would do well with all your producing detail
@rhek: liking the intro ALOT, nice percussion throughout, maybe you could beef up the sounds a bit more, it sounds clean now though which is great keep it up.
@wiredcrumpet: loving the chorus liking the style of it the synths could use some meat though imo.
i bet ive missed ppl
check my sig tracks ppl and lemme know what you guys are thinking.
safe.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@NICORISONE lol you should definitely keep that sample, maybe add reverb to it as it sounds a bit rigid as the track starts right after the sample, it would flow in nicely. nice chord progression as well. at 0:36, the frequency's a bit high i think, i would either lose the drums at that point or build up the frequency of the synth more gradually. nice tune though
@gonzodj yea, i like this. i think you could work on the intro a bit. the white noise goes on for a bit long and so do the drums. maybe introduce the vocals and the sub a bit earlier. i like the vocals and the really deep bass, the piano coming in as well was a good touch. you might also want to variate the drums a bit, but that's down to personal preference
@ grimesyndicate yea i like the samples and the progression in the intro. the wobbly synth you should probably work on a bit, just sounds a bit basic.i dunno, the frequency of it seems a bit much at some points with the lfo automation, but sounds like it has a lot of potential
@ironik nice work on the buildup. not my sort of thing, i'll admit, but this is well produced. the bassline you could variate a bit i think, and mix things up but yea, sounds good
here's this i've been doin, it's not dubstep but another early sort of grime track
