Because Matthieu has scored against Real two times in a row (Valencia) and because Enrique wants to have three tall defenders for set pieces. I think Matthieu is certain for the starter now so it's Alba that has to compete with Pique in a way, and Matthieu has been pretty good attacking. I'm surprised at how good Matthieu has been but you are right in that Pique has been shit (maybe three season now actually )...
