Am I the only one thinking this is all a bit silly and overblown? I mean it's an absolute peach of a strike, undeniably, but she's hardly scored it against top-level opposition... they're weren't even professional, were they? It's the sort of goal you see once in a while playing with your mates because your mates can't defend for shit.

I get what you're saying, but I don't recall any of my mates scoring a goal like that in the playground :cornlol:

that goal really isnt the best ive seen this year. very good goal but definitely not the best. id love to see her knock the ball over the head of a premier league defender like that rather than some next amateur irish defender

I pretty much spent the entirety of the summer of '96 trying it after Gazza's against Scotland.

Now, if she'd done it over Colin Hendry's head...

Zidane was an overrated tnuc (top 50 ?)

Especially considering the other players in the french team at that time.

I'm sorry :w: - it's not an appropriate response to just mentioning zidane :dunce: but there we go football is about being annoyed and angry :6:

Zidane scored 2 goals in a world cup final and a worldy in the champions league final, that's what most people will be judging it on tbh

volley + hair 10/10

@liam

I would probably have Henry, Thuram, Vieira, Dessailly on an all time team tbh

People seem to like to claim that Henry was rubbish for France, despite the fact he's still their all time top scorer but quite a distance

i think both wiltord, anelka, trezeguet, guivarche, duggary and henry
came up around the same time so that might have played a role in what they could expect .... but yeah doesn't make a whole lot of sence ..

i dont know if maybe monaco has such a bad name that players from that club would get a harder time?..

got to be the james rodriguez goal for me. context has to play a part in goal of the year surely, and its tough to be the world cup. that lass was under zero pressure again poor opposition at a low level. great goal though.
Zidane is one of the best players i've ever seen for me. he's won fuck loads, done it in the big games and most importantly just the way he played the game was amazing, a proper visionary. henry is my favourite player ever, but Zidane probably was better overall.
used to love watching trezeguet too, was a badman. i miss watching a lot of these old players

Don't get me wrong though - if he had played up to the level he was capable of - he could've been one of the very, very best. His touch was amazing and his dribbling was very good on tv.
But his attitude was 95% of the time just moot and moping around, never taking runs and very rarely making any assists which is arguably the purpose of a playmaker. He had a good period in Juve and was one of the most interesting players in serie A during a time where that league had some of the best players ever. But not better than for example Nedved, Jugovic or Baggio... and only slightly better than Del Piero, Djorkaeff, Veron and Mendieta..
(who all played that role).

But his bit in real was a farce tbh.
That whole team was imo a joke and Figo was at least as good. And that is the period along with the ridiculous french national team that got him the attention and credit.

He doesn't 'touch' Ronaldinho or Laudrups level imo.

Today i'd rate him like Iniesta or Silva who are amazing players that people also tend to prefer because of their playing style, but who unfortunately haven't had as much influence on the game as they could have.

It's weird that he's considered above people like Totti or Gerrard imo.
i miss watching a lot of these old players

are you saying Gerrard is a better player than Zidane ever was?
