Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
If NWJ was super illustrious he'd put each Tuna week's submissions in their own spoiler in the OP so we could go back and track progression.
Although the inherent nature of Tunas is transience so it might end up being a graveyard of dead links.
Dfault that's a dope track, I've listened to it a bunch of times now. My buddy digs it as well.
Haven't listened to the others because laziness. Squishing a big mound of bugs today.

also, and this goes for basically everyone on dsf, not just the peeps in dis thread, if you're posting a private sc link, there's no point of putting it in the [soundcloud] brackets, cause you have to click on it so you can view it in sc anyway, so just post the link, it'll save a lot of space in some of these posts!

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
@psych def dig the ambience. sub is nice and clean maybe push the drums abit further in the front?
but yeah all the stuff sits well, nice spacey pads. maybe an arp at the end or a plucky synth?
@dfaultuzer def nice not my type of music but i know there are alot of people around here that love this type of tune so maybe dunno finish it of save maybe and play around with the melodies btu its finished i think not much to change
@jbe haha yeah love the melodies my type of music :3 hm dunno maybe some vocals lol but honestly could add alot for this one or a vocoder even but yeah melodies are sick ♥ nice one
@mason finally some vocals has a nice oldschool dusbtep vibe maybe even more reverb on this snare? i pers would cut the intro abit or bring the beat later but yeah maybe a few abrs shorter until she raps. she might be off beat a few times but fuck it makes it better haha hm maybe play around with the vocals itself more here and there? can you open the filter of the bass or is it more a distortion thingy if you can maybe try around with some more highendy parts and maybe some lower wobbles here and there?
@dubunked cant open atm will try later
@kaili oh yeah like it. def nice sample? or playing hm yeah maybe this shaker abit back as said
and maybe a bit higher clap on top even? or take the crackle frm the start and cut sth out for the snare. but yeah overall its for me with defaultuzrs its not my style overall so i would change alot to fit to my taste haha but i know that it works as it is so just maybe the shaker ?

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
thx for the positive comments
@psychs/delinquenczy: really like the ominous stabby sounds you have in your intro and outro (i feel you could make them a bit louder in the outro, as they are being drown in other elements imo), i think you could also use them more during the tune as incidentals. nice weighty sub, nice use of the pads too.
@jbe/twisted psykie: mixdown sounds impeccable to me, though the clap could use a bit more "grit", like maybe layer some crunchy foley (think leaves crackling or something) on them? not really feeling the melody tho, but i guess it's down to personal taste. as bud suggested i think you could add more elements, a vocoder would definitely work imo
@bud/mguri 82: actually really feeling this one, not sure about the part of the vocal that goes "midnight daydream" tho, sounds a bit too overly 90's cheese? (personal taste i know, but for the record i would say i generally like cheese) i would suggest adding more incidentals in the drum/percussion pattern, give it more of that shuffley garage feel
judges: really liking this, i feel you could play around with the voices more, do a sort of call and response between the lo-pitched and hi-pitched ones, things like that. not too keen on the arpegiated trancey synths tho
@m8son: this one has a sort of understated eski vibe to me, feeling these gloomy synths. not sure if the vocals are really working for it, sounds to me like they're in a different scale? maybe one of the musician theorist can tell. back on the eski thing, actually i think it could be less understated, like have the beat be more broken/grimey, in line with the sub bass, not sure i'm expressing myself very clearly...
@dubunkle/surgeon: nice deep tunes. i'm not sure about the clap, it sounds alright when it's wet but when it's dry (for ex: at the end of the drum roll right), it sounds a bit too much like some stock sound, could be just me though. also i wish there were more incidentals sounds, like a reverse long note at the end of a 32bar section, maybe some reversed cymbal, little details like these that help the track flowing
@kaili: love how you used those asian samples. not sure about the panning on the shakersin the beginning (but i'm listening on headphones, having them moving from left to right is really distracting), really liking that breakdown, though i agree with nwjs comment, you should have something not reverse during the part where you reverse everything.
@nowaysj: wow this one hits hard, great progression. the percussions are insane, but i wish they were a bit more on the front in the mix, or maybe the hi hat is too loud? idk, i feel the clap/snare could be sounds a bit drowned when there's too many other elements going. i think the main flutey synth could be weirder (maybe have that simple melody arpeggiated at times?), and maybe an octave lower?

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
psych: very nice vibe on this dude. maybe get the synths to have more of an interesting texture, feel like I've heard this sort of sound too many times before
JBE: strong first entry, really feeling the progression on this. its got that perfectly nostalgic mood that i love. maybe mess more with the sounds cos like I told psychs, the actual sounds here have been used soo many times, just them simple waveforms.
to both of you, obviously theres nothing wrong with just using simple sounds, this is just a suggestion if you still wanna mess more with it
bud: i'd say the midbass could be more of a solid wall of sound that keeps jumping out, y'know. the ideas here are great though, midnight daydream m8 thats an Inception-like concept hahah
hahahah second one is sick! like an instrumental mix of the first one, that was exactly what i was gonna suggest and then i heard this. midbass sounds better on this one. not much to criticise tbh, big ups
m80808: loool that sample. this is kinda... whats the word... this is kinda Gully bruv. get that mid to really come out its shell and fuckin murder the system, and you'll have a decent tune here imo
dubunker: the textures dude, the textures could be more interesting. especially that synth, is that signature NI Massive sound. sample something, get inventive d00d. the idea is there, you need to get out of the emulation phase though and do your own ting u feel me. maybe even completely forget about the mid and just use a huge sub that moves around and has a life of its own...
kaili: tune's gone
nowaywaynowayyy: this shit is freaking me out in a very good way. i'd say mess more with that high-octave lead, sounds a bit too jarring and unrefined at the moment. take it out to dinner, teach it a few things about being cultured and hopefully it'll start playing more smoothly
dfault: this is a peng track, cousin. love the groove, the mood, the little bleeping stab here and there... yeah this is pretty much done already imo. nice progression on the second drop too, good stuff cuz

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
I really feel the same way. At this point I need a break. Good things are happening, and I want to be producing, like on a daily basis, I'm just mad to work. But it is kinda moth and flame for me right now. I think I could do with a weeks sunshine.

Fragments, Jizzmaster, DeFault, Demaine... And where is the mad doctor this week?

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
@jbe
nice spheric sounds in the intro
maybe bring the bassdrum in a tad quieter fade it in a bit
nice wierd garagey drop but still its more idm. drum work is really nice pads work well all seems to darg you into it rather push it against your face which i like
melody that drops is ace you listen to lots of idm?
maybe stretch the arp in the second drop like dif melody rythm or even play with the timing and octaves
but yeah overall very nice so far
@mason
yeah after first listen i would say maybe shorten it a bit or make some parts dif to the restin the beat section . hm maybe make triblets in your melodies like mini arps or sth i dunno to make it biut jumpier i know its not the vibe for playing around too much but at some occasions it could add some difference
i mean its a nice tune clap is nice sounds work together but i would love to hear sme playing around with the melodies
