Basic Instinct

I thought this was a really good film. Interesting plot, good characters and well acted. There's a lot of sex, almost too much really but it does lend to the atmosphere in the film. Sharon Stone has the most captivating eyebrows ever in this film

X Men Origins: Wolverine

I got made to watch this by the mrs on Friday. I thought it was just a bit shit really, apparently the new wolverine film is quite good though... I'd like to see something about one of the other x men tbh

Trading Places

You can't go wrong with 80's Eddie Murphy, plenty of laughs and probably the best explanation of how the stock market works in a movie.

"When I was a kid, if you wanted a jacuzzi you had to fart in the tub"

I swear I watched some other films this weekend but I can't remember them so they must have been a bit shit.

No, Only God Forgives it is one fucking bizarre piece of film making. I think gosling says 10 lines in total and it ends with a Karaoke scene.

Something about seeing Michael Douglas blowing his load instantly puts me off a film

Didn't like Drive that much. Did like the way it was filmed and how the music basically said more
than the dialogue.
Don't get why they keep the actual story out of the picture, because the idea of a Hollywood stunt/getaway driver is kind
of cheesy to begin with. I get that's the whole idea, but it doesn't do it for me.

The Battery - Pretty good character study about 2 normal guys just trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. Low budget, but it works in it's favor. It's pretty much more Walking Dead than Walking Dead is.

Actually pretty good political thriller about a private defence company, their evil doings and a cover up. Not too mentally taxing but enough to keep my interest for the two and a bit hours running time. Not quite All The President's Men but yeah, decent. Also, good to see Jason Bateman in a non comedic roll.

Mud
a rare man's film
all actors proficient enough to forget that they're acting
including one of the boys who is a local amateur
Reece Witherspoon a small role as a tramp but very good
setting, on the Mississipi in Arkansas, fascinating
theme...love & loyalty... well explored
plot finally resorts to violence but doesn't dominate
good one to see.

Never heard it being rated but I thought it was great. Love all the different layers and progression throughout the film, the way the film changes its style as he works out how he wants to make his film was pretty clever i thought.

Maybe it isn't overrated in the wider world, but I got that impression judging from the reviews on here. Idk, think it was just a few pages ago when people were biggin up Charlie Kaufman and Adaptation was cited as one of his triumphs. While I thought the film was well acted on all counts and pretty clever, in a meta way, I much prefer Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So, yes, the film is good, better than most American films these days, but imo it pales in comparison to his other work.

I enjoyed this, much underrated film IMO.

My only qualm is that considering they were supposed to have gone to college together, Crowe is a lot older than Affleck.

You know what you're getting with a Jet Li movie but the story was ridiculous and the fight scenes were too few. Not exactly Morgan Freeman's best work...

@ Wub - Yeah, it's not bad, ay! It's not filled with endless characters in suits like most political intrigue films (which always makes it so hard to follow) and there's enough twists and reveals to to keep the pace up. Strong cast, imo. Helen Mirren does the business in this and, dare I say it, brings another level of credibility to it.

@ Southstar - Unleashed is soooo bad, which is a shame considering the cast.

21 and over - was expecting generic stupid party comedy. nothing special, but not as bad as i thought it would be.
