Just watch if you fanny. Do you need all your mates to tell you what you should listen to and how to dress aswell?
I think most people go in expecting Drive 2 and its not.
Alot of people that have seen Refn talk about it mention how he made it to piss off people that latched onto him after Drive, his way of "shaking off the fleas" so he ramps everything that folks liked in Drive to the enthdegree just because he can.
Lol they just stare at each other (in Drive) Well fuck you then were going to stare even more here and Gosling can have 10 lines in the whole film.
He makes them cheap becuase hes then free to do whatever he wants, aslong as he breaks even then hes content.
Also re the end,Everyone in the film is mental and also a tnuc. He smashes someone in the face with a glass and drags them out of a club by their mouth. Just because.
Even looking at the thread everyone goes in expecting Drive. When Drive is nothing like anything he had previously made. Valhalla Rising is nothing like Drive either? Pusher triolgy is about as close to it that hes done
OST is good too.
TDLR: Its not perfect by any stretch, but its also worth watching. It looks and sounds great wich is more than you can say for most other films that people waste 2 hours of their life watching!
Not disagreeing but honestly if you have to spend this much time making a person believe it's good then is it actually?
Or is this just one big chin stroking cry wank?
Well this is a thread about movie discussion, can't blame for someone saying maybe you should watch it and form your own opinions rather than rely on critics and everything else.
Hell just the divided opinions about it in this thread would be enough to pique my interest if I hadn't watched it.
Yeah I loved it, but I can see why most people didn't. You've gotta be patient and just sort of "feel it" if that makes any sense. (wow I re-read that and it definitely sounds like some prime chin stroking). Lovely film though, it's one where I think it's better to just sit and enjoy it rather than over analyze everything (although if you wanted to analyze everything I'm sure you could spend forever doing just that).

The Act of Killing.
Worthy of the praise it is getting. Deffo the best thing I've seen this year.

Wolverine.
Worth going to the cinema for, enjoyed the story, couple of the fight scenes were suitably ott. Everything a superhero film needed to be. Loved the post credit scene setting up for X Men 4

This Boy's Life (1993)
Excellent, but made me want to attack my TV just to get at Robert De Niro's character. Ugh.
Alpha Dog (2006)
I'd put this off since it came out despite seeing favourable reviews. It's actually pretty great. Timberlake can act.
The Wiz (1976)
Fun fun fun. Also, is this the moment where Michael Jackson decided he actually wanted to be Diana Ross as an adult?
The Unloved (2009)
Brilliant. But HARRRRRRRRRRRRD going.

The Conjuring - utterly meh material, relied completely on jump scares as well.

Over the last few days I've watched:
The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - I was pleasantly surprised by this, I'm not really in to horror films at all but this held my attention fairly well. Not brilliant but not as bad as I was expecting.
Dog Day Afternoon - I thought this was a really good film, I'd not heard of it before but bought it purely because Pacino is the lead actor. He really delivers in this, totally convincing as the lead role. The story is really good, a guy tries to rob a bank with 2 friends but 1 bottles it and then everything goes to shit, I'd love to see some of the original TV footage from this. It could have been 20 minutes shorter but that's my only gripe really
Blade - The more I watch this film the more I realise that Wesley Snipes is a bit shit in it. It's still a pretty good watch though.

Event Horizon is by far the best thing Paul W.S. Anderson has ever done. Too bad they had to sensor out a lot of stuff to get more favorable PGA ratings.

Doubt
Great film, found Meryl Streep's acting a bit over the top but maybe that was all in the role.
Gonna watch "The Sessions" as soon as i've got free time, anyone seen it and has any comments ? It's got William H. Macy, Helen Hunt and looks like a feel-good movie, everything I need right now

In Time (2011)
My lady came back with this last night after being quietly impressed with Timberlake in Alpha Dog. Decent; nice premise, good script and good enough action sequences... awful special effects at times (when the 'car' comes off the bridge I'm surprised you can't make out the HotWheels logos on the bottom) and slightly crappy car chases, but overall an enjoyable 90 mins.
