Without being racist, the redneck voices start to grate after a while.

Rome was excellent, shame it didn't run for that long

dexter has been pretty fuckin good IMO. I wasn't feeling last season when (spoiler alert) (nvm). It made the show way awkward. But now that's kinda been resolved and it's not too bad. Last season too. But this is coming from someone who watched Lost and Prison Break all the way thru and loved em both so....

saw Borgias for first time tonight
they picked an interesting face for the young violent bloke (medieval looking?)

sat in the theatre alone to watch The Heat, not expecting much
which is just as well cos it was a wierd combo of girl buddy comedy/misandry/random violence
but it was an interesting dynamic between the two women.
Sandra Bullock seemed well into the drunk scene
& she's defo showing her age...her eyes are being sucked into her skull
but her legs are still pretty nice.
Melissa McCarthy as the beefy cop held her end up with a believable aggression,
Spoken Reasons got to be afraid of her as the stereotypical black dealer,
Kaitlin Olson was really good as a breezy Russian kingpin
the Boston Irish got another stereotyping
& the albino was safe to racially abuse.

It might be, but does that make it a good film?

as in shortwhile entertainment?

memento is a film you can watch over and over again and find new pieces every time, so yeah, that qualifies memento as a 'good film' imho.

Yeah it's totally is a good film, I should of really used a stronger term, like amazing, excellent, or brilliant.

And I totally get watching it again, and I do want to watch it again especially the end as I feel I missed some thing there.

What I was more on about is that I don't cinematography is what makes a film great. In the same way that production doesn't make a piece of music great. Nicki minaj has good music production, but the music absolutely sucks ass.

And that it's not as good as it's hyped up to be.

yeah fair enough, I get what you mean ;-)

take valhalla rising, amazing caps, really dark and gritty atmosphere (which I really enjoy) but a bit crappy in the end

Dexter started falling off with the whole Lumen arc, pretty much stopped watching after that season.
Might come back and watch the final seasons once it wraps up just to see how much of a trainwreck it becomes.

It depends on what you enjoy in cinema, like for example all the things done tech wise and CGI in Avatar did nothing for me and made me wonder why I wasted my money and time seeing it since it was such a generic plot and boring.
But then I can watch something like Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children, which honestly falls into the same tech and CGI fest with shallow story and love it.
Memento I love for the way they told the story, at the time no one had really shot a movie like that, at least not one that made it out of the indie circuit into the mainstream attention like Memento. The acting was superb, the cinematography was great, and you can watch it multiple times trying to pick up all the details.
Same kind of thing with the movie Primer.

I however wouldn't say the same thing with Refn's movies, they tend to have shallow plots which often can disappoint the audience at large, but acting is usually on point, and the cinematography is gorgeous, but his films tend to be hit or miss for people with no in between with Drive seemingly being a fluke when it comes to mainstream appeal.

yeah Luman was wack. But the final season has been pretty solid so far imo. We'll see how it goes.

Scanners (1981)

Excellent.

I would like to scan all of you in this room, one at a time. I must remind you that the scanning experience is usually a painful one... sometimes resulting in nosebleeds, earaches, stomach cramps, nausea. Sometimes other symptoms of a similar nature. There is a doctor present, Dr. Gattineau. I know that you've all been prepared for this, but I thought I'd just remind you just the same. There is one other thing... no one is to leave this room.

Un Chien Andalou (1929)

I have only seen the scene with the eye before.
The groping scene needs more love, best bit in the film.
