Its crazy that Skrillex has cracked the Billboard Top 10, in at least 1 category (his EP is #10 in digital downloads, #14 in Top 100). I don't care for his music at all, but for better or worse he's solidified "dubstep" as a household name.

(Even tho his fans would argue that he doesn't make dubstep, which makes this kind of ironic. And I agree, I'd call it "music to hate your mom to." Kind of like Marilyn Manson, and the Sex Pistols before that. Brostep is the new punk, basically.)

Well Skrillex was in an Emo band, right? So I guess you have a point. But emo and punk are basically the same thing, its just that one is younger and has a vagina.

Skrillex is for emo's that like to think that they are cool, edgy and underground, which is ironic because this makes them even more mainstream than being emo.

True... good point.

The punks would beat the shit out of the emo kids, who were too busy looking down at their shoes to know they were about to get face-elbowed. And that, folks, is how evolution happens.

Most people I know that were in to emo can't stand any sort of electronic dance music, let alone Brostep. They come from the Foo Fighters / Weezer vein of alt-rock, most of which is staunchly anti-electro. I don't see many kids being brought over to dubstep from emo -- I think Sonny is more the exception than the rule. But that's just from my skewed, outlier viewpoint.

Is that a frequency response LED belt she's wearing? That'd be sweet if the green blocks moved up and down with the music, but I doubt that's the case.

I definitly agree with the rediculousness of that statement. That being said, I personally like what I like, regardless to how underground or mainstream it is.

Just jumping in here, I'm not in any way shape or form a Skrillex fan, but I think the criticism of him should focus on his music if you're going at him.
It doesn't really make sense to me to criticize him based on the crowd that listens to him (i.e. all the posts saying "Skrillex is for these kids" and "Skrillex is for those kids"), it should be more on things that he specifically does or says, or, more importantly, his music.
I personally don't like his music, but if he was just making music that I didn't like, it wouldn't be of any large matter to me. It's more the "Skrillex phenomenon" that irks me, which is him being fully representative of the entire dubstep scene to most people - I know kids who say they hate dubstep but really only know tunes by Skrillex, and would actually love the deeper, darker dubstep which I love. I have no particular hate for Skrillex, the person.
Anyways, I'm on a tangent. Point is, criticism should be aimed at the person rather than the crowd that listens to em.

haha, i agree with you, but, at the same token, it was only recent (past 2 months) were skrillex decided to have a go at the fans liking the original sound.
he can't mix for shit, his tunes are generally awful, his sound design is good.. but what is the point in good sound design if you can't execute it..

Yeah I agree with that ^ the mixdown is pretty horrible, he over-compresses everything.

Wait you said he had a go at the fans of the original sound, you mean he went at them and insulted the original sound? Cuz that's not cool.
