It's particularly necessary with this type of ½ random defense duo.
yeah id have been gobsmacked if i was told a team with coquelin and cazorla as holding mids would beat city, united and liverpool comfortably this season

It was even worse a few years ago. Like Voronin, Cissé and that lot during that time.
Them and Juve would buy players and then they would become the worst signings in that season. There were even players that failed in both spots like Aquilani.

Lallana and Markovic are both shaping up now tbf

coq was my man of the match on saturday, was his best game in an arsenal shirt imo. just needs to tighten up a few of those loose balls he sprays. it would almost be a shame to get someone like schneiderlin right now and see his game time shrink. first time in a long time where squad depth is decent and we don't desperately need any signings, thanks to Coq and Paulista looking decent

nah id love schneiderlin. much rather the team develops than coquelin. would be good to have competition for that position. that being said lets see wagwarn with arteta after his injury.

I dont agree that Kons, Merte and Gabriel are good enough at this level. But moreso its the level within the squad where they stick out.
Obviously Gabriel gets a chance now.

Scneiderlin is not a dm dm per se, he's more of a box to box player and everybody should allow Coq to grow lol.

No but seriously Schneiderlin wouldn't just sit infront of the d like arsenal needs. He's good on a team that plays that type of quick re-checking like Bielsa, Pocchetino or Koemann or Klopp practises but he would probably just become surplus in combination play which is key in arsenal right now imo.

In what way is he the replacement? As captain yes, but no one is saying he's going to be Gerrard level. As of right now, Can is being hyped as that

And on the topic of liverpools transfers, who's been a flop besides Lovren?

He's english and Hodgson picked him for the team. The only reason he isn't being touted as that anymore is because of his lack of talent.

That's not saying I dont hope they can get a player like that but its the nature of liverpool as a club. Cissé was thought of as the next Rush and so on. It's kind of cool because it shows how old some of the fans are, that they place all this weight on those notions but also the slow unprogressive side of liverpool institutionally.

Can is just a beast or worker in comparison imo and there's not that many around of those atm so it sticks

Balotelli, Lambert, Lallana + Sakho (for the price), Allen slightly..
Markovic is only comming around now mid to late season

What Henderson lacks in ability he makes up for in leadership and work ethic. He was days from a transfer to Fulham and now he's the first name on the team sheet of a club challenging for top 4

I think there was one time they where behind 0-3 in an important final ... do you reckon he will leadership or work ethic his way back from that in a similar situation?
I don't know what you are arguing here .. is it his level or the idea that he was being touted?

Are you writing the back quote for some Liverpool pamphlet now or what is this ?

Any team that just lost a top 3 striker in the world would take a 16 mil gamble on balotelli given his ability. Lambert was always going to be a substitute so I think to call him a flop when he was thrust into the 11 given the circumstance is unfair. Lallana is less a flop imo and more an unneeded purchase. Coutinho is miles better and plays the same position effectively. Sakho was signed as a fairly young defender who had already been captain of a top European side and even tho he looks like Bambi when on the ball, rarely makes mistakes. Allen is too inconsistent but he was one of Rodgers first signings so I'll give him some slack because he was just a young player who didn't work out. markovic is only 19 so the jury is still out on him

I'm saying he's been one of liverpools most consistent players and more than deserves to be captain

I completely agree with all of that. But that doesn't excuse the decision making or change history. It is what it is and it has been very expensive.

I see no end to for example Sakho or Balotellis talent but their inclusion on this team at this time was more by chance than a genuine wish to include.

If they had went to Arsenal just as an example, they might have clicked with some similar guys right off the bat. Or maybe being a french defender there has it's benefits - Wenger might not question the same things Carragher hanging around does or whatever. Balotelli wouldn't have had to try to represent Suarez' workrate and so on .
There's definitely language issues with the integration in Liverpool and its just risky and naiive to bring in someone like Balo as the messiah type player the situation demanded.

Oh and btw Allens role was a Laudrup invention so just like juan albin, pablo hernandez, de Guzman or michu gets 4 evah eternal credit in my book :6:
