Europa Report :

Nifty low budget Sci-fi story putting the science back in Sci-fi. It's a worthy attempt but budget limitations force the story to be told in a way that didn't speak to me at all (voice over narration, on board camera's). Also, the ending was a serious disappointment. All in all, a good attempt to finally please the deep space Sci-Fi fans (who like a bit of realism). It reminded me a bit of moon, but really not half as good. It was also a bit boring. 5/10

Gravity :

Much like Elysium, it is a decent attempt at a blockbuster. It struggles a bit here and there and many of its thrills are due to the 3D nature/SFx departments work. It moves ahead with great pace which I wasn't expecting. The backstory for the characters was rushed and unneccesary though, and the ending a bit far-fetched. 7/10 as a cinema experience, as a movie I'd give it a 6,5.

The Man With The Iron Fists

Pretty bad, seemed almost self parody at times. Premise was interesting enough, but the execution ultimately felt like RZA was making the sort of film that 20yrs ago he'd be sampling for an album.

I wouldn't say that it's a standard affair or what you would expect. It's much better than that - plays like an episode of breaking bad, and the message is not straight up american patriot shit either. The rock was a producer aswell. A sign that police films are beginning to take inspiration from television. Much like End of watch.
imo.

Message was mixed at best, but I agree re; the TV inspiration stuff.

Ending is pretty grim, but has some good parts and some long parts.

Yeah pedro is pretty spot on. But the camera work is really genuinely original - a bit like how peep show has the inside narator thing going for it, end of watch has a certain way of putting you in the middle of what is going on via handheld camera. It feels different from other films in that respect. Great acting for an action film too.

Message was mixed at best
I mean it's not supposed to be a revolutionairy tale but at least it shines a bit of spotlight on what role the police can play. I wouldn't expect that from the rock producing a cops and robbers type thing tbf.

Early Todd Solondz suburban misfit comedy/drama - genuinely funny, but also pretty hard going. Watching this makes me wonder why anyone bothered to make Napoleon Dynamite.

Welcome to the Dollhouse has more 90's Kevin Smith sensibility to it, Napoleon Dynamite has a more comical subtlety that purposely alienates a mainstream audience.

"A documentary centered on a young Frenchman who claims to a grieving Texas family that he is their 16-year-old son who has been missing for 3 years."

Incredible story, really unbelievable, highly recommend this :o

so good. richard linklater is my favorite director ever. I've been working my way through his filmography and this was the last one, and it's one of my favorites. Ethan Hawke is a gem, definitely works well with Linklater

It had less of that rambling, free feel to it that most linklater films have, but that makes sense because it wasnt written by him and it's based on a one room play

Watched Oblivion last night, was pretty good.
Im not sure if that was because my bar was set waaaaayyy lower than normal because of Com Truise but it held my intrest. Few twists here and there but it went abit wonky towards the last half an hour.
