Inspired by House music and lots of other stuff...........

Alright everyone, I've been out of action for a while due to a rather nasty illness, and whilst still not in the clear, I have been sorting out the music albeit at a s l o w e r rate than usual.

So, now I ask if you could kindly lend your ears to a 'lil ditty i've done which is kind of deep house based and inspired, in part by the funky end of the spectrum whilst still maintaining that classic house feel. There's a more US than UK flavor to this tune, and i'd be interested to hear any opinions. I was feelin' some of the old Todd Terry and Larry Heard twelves I have gathering dust the other day as well as loads of soundtrack stuff and a bit of the legendary Dorothy Ashby. This tune is partly a homage to that sound with a more up to date twist, it's also got a french horn in it.
I dunno what to make of it, I wanted to push things in a different direction and it don't sound like much else out there really. Phew!
What do you think of it?

It's the first number in the player.

Many thanks, and, if anyone's felling it i can sort you out with a 320.

Nice one guys, thanks.

Groucho mate, it's sampled from the track 'Myself When Young' on the LP 'Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby' another one i got from a car boot about ten years ago for like 2 quid or summat. I've got about 10 of her LP's and the one everyone knows is the 'Afro Harping' slate, which ain't her best IMO, she cut a few in the late 60's for A+M which are really good. Fookin' car booters! I gotta start sampling more stuff from those crazy LP's.
But the whole track is made of samples, includin' the drums. There ain't a single synth on it.
There's bits from John Cameron and Leroy Hutson, Carl Craig and Henry Mancini to name a few. Most folk would be hard pushed to tell which was which though.
Soulja, thanks for the support mate, really appreciate it. You know the score, you want any bits just holla.
Jus Swope, cheers. It's been a while mate, hope things are well with you. The Styrax EP is coming out soon, me and Quantec are waiting for the pressing plant in Germany, the EP's are up on the Styrax website, and there's a review on the Clone records website. There's been some TP' about, I know Laurent Garnier had one a while back now and said some nice things about it, and that he was gonna play it on his radio show.
There's another EP scheduled for release in the winter and that John Beltran remix which is out on a Styrax LP of remixes of his stuff by Claro Intellecto, BV Dub, Quantec, Andy Stott and the like later in the year. There's also a track coming on the Echodub label. So that's it really, just being patient and waiting for things to start rolling.

I just chucked another tune up, 'Gold , Pink And Yellow' have a butchers, if yer passing.

Thanks again guys.
