Post by dastree » Wed Aug 12, 2009 10:21 pm

Oh wow.

These threads just keep popping up don't they ?

Exactly the same bass sound ? I wonder.

To answer your question, perhaps it has to do with the fact that quite a few producers have the same modus operandi in the studio ?

And... emulation is not specific to dubstep. Look at the history of hip-hop, reggae, drum and bass, etc.

In before : if you don't like it, don't listen to it mate

And : don't start a thread like this for something you don't like

B2B : you have to hear them on a big rig mate.

don´t get me wrong
i like dub and i also like dubstep
i also like to mix it and play it out but whenever i check out the new vinyl releases on juno about 90 percent of that stuff is just crap!
all the same bass sound - it seems like the producers are using the same presets and plug ins.

and don´t tell me that it needs a big sound system - a shit bass is a still a shit bass sound!

there are two very easy ways round the problem

1) do something (relatively) novel and only play out tunes that you think are worth being played out.

2) start producing your own thing.

yes there's an awful lot of repetition in dubstep and an awful lot of nonsense, but if you look hard enough there are some truly beautiful songs out there to find.

have a listen to pangaea's 'memories' for starters.

yeh, and whilst we're at it...northern soul uses too many trumpets and xylophones all the time, rock uses too many bigg muffs. Blues...too much use of the pentatonic scale. roots dub...too much use of high pass guitars and delay. f*ck em!

I bet this guy thinks that the cream of dubstep is what is in the top 10 of beatport or trackitdown.....

Do some fucking research, if you don't like it what you hear find stuff you do like, there's plenty of alternative stuff out there!

The dude has a point dont he? but weeeee luuuuurv the basss sounds ;-)

its evolving all the time, wont be long before the dubstep genre starts to split up, dark, funky, mellow, all that malarky, hopefully it will out live the ukg scene, more bass please;-)
