About This Release:

ALR’s 36th release “A Town Down” Vol 1. is a sonic kick to the skull. This is a collection of dubstep tunes put together by ALR featuring various producers and emcees from Atlanta and surrounding areas. This is just more proof of how we get down over here. Volume 1 is a taste of what’s to come with this series. These producers are further proving that the lines between genres have been blurred, and that when it comes to dubstep in the dirty south: Anything goes!! These tunes have been tested on dance floors all over the south east and the response has been nothing short of crunk!!

Artists On This Release:

SkapeZilla featuring Yelawolf & Grippylaz

SkapeZilla was a former graphic design student that fell victim to hip-hop and jungle after being infected by the Atlanta music scene years ago. Originally from Alexandria, VA the former skateboarder and graffiti artist acknowledges Reggae, Crunk, Miami bass, DC Go-Go, bangara, and drum n bass as flavors from the bag of tricks he references when creating his own brand of DubStep. Skape is also a member of SunToucher, a live dub band based in Atlanta, GA. Skape teams up with ATL emcees, Yelawolf and Grippylaz to give u a nice little taste of the dirty dirty on this release.

MK2

MK2 is known for his heavy bass lines, driving rhythm sections that consistently keep the body moving. He is also known to have two sides to his production, one being very heavy bass lines, growling synths, and an extremely driving rhythm section, and the other being a very melodic, warm summer vibe with more driving bass lines than rhythm. This gives him the possibilities of having anything to play at any time, for any occasion, and also the ability to go deeper in the experimentation and not stick with any certain way of producing.

MK2, has collaborated globally with producers and artists such as: 6blocc, O–Dessa, Bombaman, Ale Fillman, Mr. Curtamos, Werd2jah, Jaybird, Claw, Heavy Machine, HD4000, Chris Maddox, Holly Lane, Joan Macrino, Laurea Menedez, RaabStract (Rachael Raab) and Ricky Pirozzi. When starting off in Savannah, MK2 was running a huge weekly known both as Massive and Bass Face at the Tantra Lounge. While residing in Savannah he also has played other community events such as: Taste, Savannah Urban Arts Festival, De Soto Row Art Gallery. He was also voted Best Electronic Artist in Savannah, by the local newspaper, the Connect.

Heavy Machine:

“I’m Coming Forward” marks the second release for Heavy Machine on ALR. “Staying Down” (which also spent some time on the beatport top 100 dubstep charts this past spring) was just the begining for this dubstep duo. The new tune is a creepy full on banger complete with intense whobbly basslines, and a catchy main riff. The vocal samples set it off perfect to let everyone know that Heavy Machine is coming forward.
