excuse me for being a fucking retard when asking about stuff to do with djing, dont know much.

been round my mates mixing round his for a while and i have some shitty usb deck things. i really want to get into djing and have come to the conclusion theres no way in hell i can afford to use vinyl, not for a while anyway.

I wanna get serato done a bit of research but for that ill need;

serato (obviousily)
a laptop
decks/mixer

how much shud i be spending on a laptop purely for serato, maybe other usage such as internet?
and also i watched a youtube video on serato and the dj is using turtables with serato.
so its possible to use vinyl decks for serato?
and what decks should i be looking for, save up for the technic 1210s i've been told so much about? id rather get turntables over cdjs tbh
and much u recon i'll be needing to spend before im set up and ready to get mixing away?

once again excuse me for asking newbie questions, but id appreciate ur help.

cheers :D

those usb deck things are no good brov...

get familiar with how d.v.s. (digital vinyl systems ) work. serato in my opionin is the best, i've been using it for about 6 years now. traktor pro is a close second both with their selling points.

d.v.s. systems are a bit pricy, at least for the good ones. and yes they work on regular turntables, the same ones u play vinyl on. also if you buy a d.v.s. make sure your mixer has 2 sets of phono L/R inputs and 2 sets of line L/R inputs with a line phono switch. this is important, most mixers have these.

you can get a used pair of technics for around $500.00 u.s. look at your local music stores and always try to bargain. if u buy used techs make sure the platter dosn't rock, all the cords are intact and the table works properly.

as far as computers go... alot of serato headz are starting to use netbooks. they're cheaper and smaller. any laptop will work, or computer for that matter. just make sure they have the system requirements for what d.v.s. you plan on using.

just put in the work, keep learning, and stay humble... it takes time...

hope this helped...

Yep you can get used techs cheap these days. I see steals all the time. Maybe even craigs list or something. Most of the deals I see are from the local edm board, if you got one, focus your eye's on that.

The computer I am currently using for djing cost me 350 from Best Buy. You really don't need anything crazy. Mine is a single core with 2 gigs ram. Runs Torq perfectly.

Torq could also save you a lot of money. You will still spend at least a grand (USD). sucks to have to buy that shit all at once. I had a vinyl set up for years and a laptop so I just need to add Torq for 270 and I was in business.
