Does anyone know how to make these? Or where to find some samples, i've tried searching but couldn't find anything along the lines I was thinking of.

You know those metallic sounding snares you get in the really dark DnB tunes or some dubstep tunes?

Or am I chatting bollacks...

layer a snare with a timbale sample and compress together. adjust the env on the timbale to get as much ringing as you want

Find the meanbeat kit of acoustic drum samples, lot's of people use those to layer. Some very good sounds. The website is gone, but they are around online.. if you can't find them let me know and I will upload them for you.

Overdrive a kinda small-sounding snare, short room verb as mentioned... Layer w/ something w body and you should be good

also delay on something like 0.2 ms should work, ans you always could layer in a sword hit or whatever..

EDIT: a small amout of downsampling somewhere in the chain works too..
