Bass eq help

Post by moki » Sat Sep 05, 2009 9:08 pm

Hey I have my kick sitting where I want it, it punches big at 40 htz. but my bassline also hits at 40 htz. If I cut a hole in the bass it sounds really weak.

what should I do, side chain a compressor to to the kick on the bass? are there any better ways? I like how my kick sounds and don't want to retune it.

`Thanks

Panning your kick is not advised. Since kick/bass are mono, they should be dead center.

Noted!

I'm going to try putting 2 copies, each panned far, see if this helps with Op's problem of kick/bass sitting together.

Highpass the kick around 70-85hz, notch the conflicting frequency out.

How about a 15ms delay on your bass sound, so it kicks in right after your kickdrum?

chances are you don't need that much 40hz in your kick.
