as of last week, our event system is 3 1/2 years old on this forum. it just crossed over the 10,000 posted events mark. its mad to think that in that short time, its gone so global. who remembers the days when it would be FWD and maybe 1 other night per month. now look at it....

that's on average, 55 parties a week, worldwide for 3 1/2 years.

on the subject of the events page, is there nyway in getting a midlands events page as its a mission trawling through everything happening ''in the north''. i know its hard for londoners to imagine that theres anything happening north of the watford gap, but with manchester, liverpool, birmingham, nottingham and every other city north of coventry comin under one page its all a bit of a mess.

its been debated and debated and debated on here. there's just not enough demand for it. we had a poll started, and it took more than a year to get even 50 votes for a midlands section.

well, redbull / redstripe / bacardi. there's advantages and disadvantages to getting a alcohol sponsor, but its always a way to begin without big finances.

if youve got mates that can dj ask them to do it as a favour. get a small, cheap venue and build up slowly. facebook is like free flyers too.

facebook is stupidly key - we've had packed gigs with little else

lets also discuss the environmental impact of flyers. seriously. its 2009. you have a shitload of free media outlets to use for promotion. be smart and save some trees, or at least use post-consumer recycled paper. how many flyers end up getting binned and straight to the recycle bin? i'd wager that dozens do.

That's mental, I'd bet only a small percentage of the events that go on get posted up too
