i used to listen to some metal back in the day, was never a hardcore metal head or anything, but i did like it. i always thought the breakdowns were the sickest shit ever and just realized they are like the same temp as dubstep beats! WORD! that is all.

Metal breakdowns in stuff like Caliban's 'fire of night' are just like dubstep I think... slowwwwww. It's probably why I loved dubstep so much when I first heard it :)

I've always made the connection between heavy rock and dubstep.. used to a be a proper lil grunger m'self (early Nirvana, Mudhoney, Green River, L7, early Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam etc.), and realised i make the same face when listening to both genres (you know the one..the bass face  ) I guess its just the dirty, dark sounds that do it for me - Walls of feedback and fuzz back then, Waves of Sub-low Bass these days :D The feeling I get from both are exactly the same. Just goes to show how versatile it is as a music genre..
