...what one track exemplifies ds for you & why?

Post by nousd » Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:36 pm

It's not my favourite, nor the most exciting
but D1's "Trial Run" off his first double EP
typifies or defines what I think of as dubstep....
minimal, subtle wobble, halfstep with suggestion of a dark tale

Question: What one track defines dubstep for you and why?

not really a simple question in the first place but i don't think it's fair to say there's one tune that represents the whole of the dubstep sound as it's so diverse

it may have been applicable when trial run came out bt not anymore

but i do agree that dubstep's a dark music genre....

Yeah it's not a simple question but to choose just one track it would be 'Blue Notez'.

blue notez is a good shout, maybe antiwar dub, maybe the skream mix of ancient memories.
d1's first double is sick, remember skream dropping mind an soul in a mix when his album was coming out to absolutely devestating effect. that an his assumptions mix. had an advert for "salivex" in it as well, lol

Rusko's cockney thug is my idea of perfect dubstep.

for me i reckon its either Request line, lean fwd or horror show. when someone says dubstep i conjure one of these in my head ahaha but as has been stated it's such a diverse and evolving genre that it will probably be one of the first tunes in a genre that catches your attention.

Anyone who can call this one is brave.

The spectrum and diversity of the music is just silly.

impossible to nail in one tune. you could do it in 5, and you'd just be scratching the surface. the two in my sig are benchmark's for me though.

anytime you have conflicting rhythms pulling the bassline away from the drums, at 140 bpm, you're very close to the best part of this sound. very very few tunes these days have this trait though.
