Alchemy - Worth the ££? Opinions please!!
Yo,
Ive been thinking about getting Alchemy as the last addition to my (now totally legal) set up.
Anyone out there use this alot? Any bugs that anyone knows of? Any problems with the import of WAV's? Anyone use it for anything other than pads and atmospheres?
Also if anyone can post some examples of tunes that they have written that feature it heavily, that would be cool.
Peace

ahh man alchemy is sweet tings, but the learning curve for it was steep chips i found. It's not like Massive where you can click and drop to your hearts delight. Im still learning how to use it, but i gotta say the pads on dis biatch is fiiiinnnnnneeeeeee, but yea i dont know of many people who've made basses out of this.

The automation possibilities or the granular osc alone are dope enough to make it huge...
Re: Alchemy - Worth the ££? Opinions please!!
it's really sick. I recommend buying it. better than massive for sure. I'm still learning it, made the switch maybe 3/4 months ago. I'm only recently (very recently) coming up with shit on it that I make focal points of tunes.

Tried demo, don't understand it really. It's a va with a granular synth? Lots of modulation options
congrats on ur all legal setup.

Defo worth every penny!
It basically has every synthesis option available under the sun. The unlimited modulators on all those different osc sources mean in theory you'll never need buy another synth (or sampler) again...

I've just purchased this, made another thread before seeing this.
But oh my days, this synth is a monster!
Purchase it and play on it for an hour and some of the sounds you'll get will be immense.
Definetly my new favourite VST.

Definetly true and with Massive I find that everything I make in it bass wise just sounds the same without alot of FX, literally an hour in Alchemy and I've made some really nice sounds that I'm definetly going to be using.86 position wrote:it's really sick. Deciding if I should stay up and start making a tune with it despite being up all night..
Re: Alchemy - Worth the ££? Opinions please!!
I'm feeling this at the moment too, being a huge massive user.... The thing is, I find I can make more creative bass sounds by venturing away from the daft filter... I just don't like doing it because I love the daft filterpsylent wrote: with Massive I find that everything I make in it bass wise just sounds the same without alot of FX
Definitely considering getting alchemy though, seen videos of a few producers using it and it doesn't look overly complicated, the modulation system looks similar to Albinos?

Thanks one and all, some good feedback here.
I reckon I might just have to give it a bash.
Cheers

alchemy is really good. extremely functional and i love being able to import samples that i can screw with.
still prefer the simplicity and "intuitivity" of albino

Yeah it was the whole importing of samples thing that first grabbed me.......rickmansworth wrote:alchemy is really good. extremely functional and i love being able to import samples that i can screw with.

Re: Alchemy - Worth the ££? Opinions please!!
how does this compare to the Spectrasonics stuff (Omnisphere..Trilogy..etc.) ?
and have you had any success importing a bass sample in and messing with it? the synthesis options are huge but what about the editing capacity?

Re: Alchemy - Worth the ££? Opinions please!!
you dont use bass samples, what you do is import something really nasty, like a recording of a trains wheels screeching in a curve, and then make bass out of it.

Holy crap...... That sounds too cool.Brisance wrote:you dont use bass samples, what you do is import something really nasty, like a recording of a trains wheels screeching in a curve, and then make bass out of it.
You got any examples Bri?
Im getting it tomorrow. I need this snth in my life.
I just looked at the camel audio website and watched the video that shows you examples of how this thing can alter sounds......... Im not ashamed to admit that it caused a sizeable amount of man jam to escape the otherwise water tight confines of my scrotum.
